Have to say I agree with Klopp

Certainly in light of the meltdown on here. Predictably people calling for signings and various players to be sold or are no good enoughzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Anyway some key points from his post match interview that I agree with.

"I’m disappointed, there’s big disappointment. First of all, big congratulations to Southampton – they won both legs so deserve to go to the final, but I think especially in the game tonight we could have won [the tie], that’s why I am disappointed. The plan of Southampton was counter-attacking, which they did really well. In the first half, one or two counter-attacks could have been defended better and we should not be in one-on-one situations with Redmond, but all the rest was good play of Southampton.

The performance was absolutely OK – we created the chances. Now everybody wants to say, ‘but you didn’t score’ and that’s right, absolutely right. But for me as a coach, it is very important the way we choose to create chances and that was absolutely OK. The first half was not bad, but it was quite a test, similar to Swansea – dominant, dominant, dominant but no goal. We didn’t lose our nerve,we stuck to our usual plan, did a little bit better in one or two moments [in the second half] and immediately we had bigger chances. That was good, but in the end we are out and lost both legs, and I think nobody will talk about this for a long time. For us, the performance is really important and I am fine with this, but I would actually like to be speaking about planning the final and not the performance. We are on the wrong side of the semi-final.

On the challenge of playing against teams who defend deep and look to counter…

For me as a coach it’s not that difficult because we have other situations – you can win the ball back and different things. We are not the only team in the world that has to do this. Not every team is playing like this [against Liverpool] but quite a lot, we spoke about it – 70, 80 per cent of the games are like this, we knew it before so it’s not a problem. But we still adapt to it, 100 per cent. We did it. You have to score in this or that situation then the game changes a little bit, not against each team, but a few teams are happy with only being 1-0 down or whatever.

We don’t have to think about this, it’s the most difficult thing in football but we are not the only team who has to accept this. We are a good football-playing side. Southampton usually play completely differently. If they always played like this they would probably have a few points more because their counter-attacking was really good, and defending with a little bit of luck."

The first Sturridge miss was a bit of a killer. We really needed that and it looked harder to miss tbh. He just got onto it a bit early. The second was was stretching but a good chance I felt. Coutinho whips one inches past the post. We have one clawed off the line albeit from an error.

I'm not too concerned really. Chelsea will be a big test, as it would have been anyway, but the form will return I reckon and everyone will calm down a bit.

That's one small step for the first eleven one giant leap for the squad.

With time and having Klopp as manager who will get his own type of players we will improve in the upcoming years.

I saw we were linked with Julian Brand of leverkusen, those are the type of signings we will make.

We are going backwards from title hopefuls to will we even get 4th with this weak ass squad?

Not Klopp's fault you thought we'd come from 8th to league winners saan.

It also wasnt Ranieri fault he was gives a relegation fighting team and made them into champions.

Rodgers took a team that finished 7th and we were a slip away from being champions.

These are fairly recent examples. We don't have the Europe distraction next month so could capitalise if the other 4 teams slip up.

The panty wetting on here when we lose is cringeworthy.

Dry your eyes pull them up and move on

Well done Southampton, a fully deserved win for them. One word to sum up last nights game?
Walloped, stuffed, mullahed, smashed, take your pick. We at 'sideways' FC certainly know how to scare the opposition. We almost bored them to death.

Watching it, I actually felt sorry for Can. At times, esp in the first half, the game was played around him. His confidence appears totally shot.

Remember, when Brendan was still with us, I went overboard in suggesting we sign a certain player, and got nailed by one and all in the process? A player who I rated, and still do? But was in apparently in a minority of one?

Shane Long.

Long who has scored 3 goals all season? Just what we need.

I have always thought Shane Long would have been a good option for us because of work rate and movement (as a squad player).

That ship has sailed now though, he's just turned 30 and isn't going to be getting any better. I do think we should have signed him 5 years ago though as I feel he is the type who would have won the fans over, despite not being a regular scorer, like Crouch and Heskey.

Sign Shane Long

Can wasn't in the worst five performances yesterday so not sure why a few have singled him out

Sturridge Lallana Lovren Matip Henderson Firmino TAA all had shockers and only TAA can be excused

It is typical for a certain type of fan to vastly overreact. It is probably the same ones getting getting all giddy when you were on a good run.

January always looked like it was going to be a tough month for you, it really is no surprise you have struggled a bit. The extra replayed game was a cherry on that particularly bad cake.

Spurs had an awful run of about 6 games in October/November where we did not win, and did not look like winning again. It happens.

You are still in contention for the title, and a win in the next league game could open it right up.

I can't fault you there, HRH, but, and I use Sturridge as an example. In about the 70th minute, the ball was punted forward and he went after it, badly trailing a Saints player. The one word that sprang to mind was, "carthorse".

I was watching the West Ham game and we looked like we would never win a game again fella.

We lost to United after scraping a win v West Ham, then within a month we had 7 wins on the spin under our belt
