Going to the gym

Hey guys,

Not football related but interested to know what you think on this,

I was meant to goto the gym yesterday and then changed my mind to go to the gym today, however, I really can't be bothered.

What I'd like to know, is there a point of actually going to the gym if you really don't want to go?

Like, if you don't enjoy it then is there a point in pushing yourself to make the effort in doing something you don't enjoy?

Is there a line between can't be bothered to go but if you go you'll enjoy it and that you can't be bothered to go and you know you won't enjoy it?

2 muscle groups a day and a min of 20 min cardio everyday. Normally the girls in the gym are a good reason to get down there.

If those yoga pants aren't motivation enough then you must be experiencing the deepest darkest depression

I lift heavy weights twice a week (40mins each) and box twice a week. That's plenty for me. It can be a chore and obsession is definitely an element. If you cant be bothered/lack commitment, just go sparingly to keep active, fit and healthy. I don't get those that go 5/6 times a week, that's addiction

Only just started going back to gym after breaking my arm in Sept, feels good being back in the holy temple. But seriously it's a good thing to do, whether you're weightlifting or getting doing cardio you feel more confident, get healthier, one thing I don't get is people (not referring to you op just going on a mini rant) who find gym boring and so ridicule others who go gym, it's like people who go on match threads where their team isn't playing just to moan about how bad the match is for them.

You insinuating going 5/6 times a week is a bad thing? Why is it addiction and not dedication/commitment?

If the girls at your gym are minging, you're going to the wrong gym.

Try and turn going to the gym in to your weekly routine. If you leave it to see how you feel on the day then more often than not you're going to come up with an excuse if you're not motivated for it.

I used to go every day but after traveling the states for a few months and piling on the pounds it took me 2-3 months just to get back in to it. Once I stuck it out and got back in to that routine I now find I hate missing a session. I learned that going 4 times a week isn't much different to going 7 so you don't have to over do it. I do football twice a week too mind.

Once you start to see that change in yourself that you're after you'll be more motivated to go.

i go in the morning before work, so get there at 6pm which means i get up at 5.35 as my gym is only 12-14 mins drive away.
I find this gives me a good start to the day and means i don't have to worry about being too tired or it interfering with my family/personal time after work.

i love it, then i hate it.

if i have a holiday planned i go religiously, if not i religiously go to KFC.

im 6ft4 pretty lucky in that i dont turn into a bowling ball when i eat lots.

thing i hate is when you plateau, takes weeks/months to lift that next plate.

then the eating all the protein and good foods etc.

the fact nothing in the gym feels as good as taking down a long ball and smashing a shot into the top corner in footy.

i havent been since back end of october, but booked a week in tenerfie for beginning of april - still cant make myself get back in there though
