Spurs

Think its quite clear to all that we need a BIG performance from the team on Saturday, however (in the strange world that we live in as LFC fans) I am more confident of a good performance than I was last week against Hull!

Some questions reds...

Would you be tempted by a back 3 to give us more width further up the pitch whilst hopefully helping out our defensive frailties?

Would you be tempted by Sturridge from the start as although out of form still our most natural finisher?

Will you be at the ground early and be loud or nervously cower in the corner of your seat not knowing what to do to help the team in a period of under-performance

What say you lads?

Formation? Starting personnel? Nerves?

Let's have a debate on all things Saturday if you fancy it?

If we pack the defence and just leave Alli, Kane and Eriksen up top (and bring Son on later in the game) then I think we could do a professional 1-0 win.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Do you honestly think you will set up like this though when you are in a much better run of form than we are? Surely the temptation to capitalise on that form will mean you will play more open attacking football?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We haven't been red hot recently though. Struggled to create against Sunderland and Boro. Looked awful against City (that point was pure robbery).

I hope we park the bus. I hope Poch realises that playing open expansive football against Liverpool away the exact wrong thing to do and the correct way to play the game has been shown in every game you've played in 2017.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fack that. We're not some pub team playing against Barca nor are we those Surrey Mancs. We're good enough to go there and attempt to play our usual game and see how we fare. Totally against any bus-parking from us

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? All I care about is out best chance of a win. If, in this game, the best chance is by sitting back, inviting them on to us and hitting them on the break then so be it.

You don't get bonus points for "having a real go". We need to learn from past failures and be more professional about how we approach different games.

Had we shut up shot at Stamford Bridge last year after being in front, who knows what may have happened..

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Spurs to play negative football. I want us to be cleverer tactically when needs must. There's a difference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What past failures are you referring to? Look back at our performances and results last season in the big games, we didn't park the bus in any of them and on the whole the results were decent. I'm not dismissing Liverpool but we're a different team to the mess we had in 13/14 when we got spanked everywhere.

Agree to disagree Ledders

I think if teams have shown how to beat Liverpool then it makes sense to follow that path, that's all.

To be fair in the spirit of friendship (and one Spurs/Liverpool article that hasn't descended into chaos...yet) I can see both points of view

Why change a system that is currently working
Vs
Why not play a style that has yielded so much success for our recent opponents.

Im hoping you come to play, because this will give us more chance of winning IMO and im taking my auld fella and he gets in a right nark when its cold AND its a shiite game!

I don't think any team bar maybe Barca don't adapt their tactics regardless of the opposition. The obvious tactic against Liverpool is to invite them on and don't leave space in behind.

In my mind that's not parking the bus.

I'm thinking how we played Chelsea at WHL. Not gung-ho. Not parking the bus.

It should be an easy win. Spurs are overrated.

I'm not confident about this game at all. I'd be v happy with a point but fully expecting a defeat, possibly even a heavy one without Vert and Rose.

The only glimmer of hope I have is that Poch will have seen the blueprint of how to play you laid out by...well everybody you've played this year.

If we pack the defence and just leave Alli, Kane and Eriksen up top (and bring Son on later in the game) then I think we could do a professional 1-0 win.

Worries for this game:

Dier in a 2 at the back. Think you'll get in regularly just running at him and catching him in possession.

Davies lack of pace on the left. Stick Mane on him and he'll get in time and time again.

Think we'll boss the midfield. We're...superior (cringe) than you there.

You'll get us down our left with Clyne and Mane(?).

If Wanyama has a beast of a game covering the left and Kane and Alli turn up, we can win...just don't think we will.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dier getting caught in possession - Check

Davies letting Mane in time and again - Check

Wanyama beast of a game - No Check

Kane and Alli turning up - No Check
