Really hate this system and to me with the players we play with its just like playing 5 at the back which baffles me considering the attacking quality we have. what on earth happened to 442 which would suit us perfectly .. Grealish and Adomah are natural wide men and lansbury and hourihane in the middle would be perfect with kodija and hogan up top. Bruce has to change it because 3-5-2 is a pants system and many players dont like playing it.

Played properly the theory is that it releases two players to play further forwards as wing-backs. You need the right players and the team schooled into that way of thinking.
Taylor is not a wing-back. Amavi can certainly play as one. Elphick is error prone so play Taylor as a CB as he does for Wales and stick Amavi in the left wing-back role.
With three midfielders play one as a DM and two as AM. When a wing-back bombs down the wing there needs to be movement from the midfield to give the WB options rather than just lumping it hopefully towards the two forwards in the middle. The forwards need to be mobile enough to cause the defence problems is tracking them.
In theory it could be great. Practice could be something else.
Whatever, our big problem now is to make sure there's good link-up between the forwards and the rest. At the moment it's not happening.
