Dream League - Season 8, Fixture 7

Edinburgh City 1-2 Tatung Football Club
Edinburgh Goal: Reus (Barkley)
Tatung Goals: Mane (Fekir), Bailey (Ziyech)
MOTM: Wanyama

Both of these teams have enjoyed excellent starts to the season, but with Edinburgh at home with those home advantage slots and top of the league this would be considered say a minor upset. But overall an extremely close game, and maybe just a rare off day for Lukaku, with Tatung taking their chances, - the Taiwanese club managed by our resident South African continue this superb season that they are experiencing. Edinburgh meanwhile will bounce back and are still most definitely real contenders this year.

SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden 1-0 Forres Mechanics
Cambuur Goal: Costa (Rafinha)
MOTM: Lemos

This week has seen Cambuur really invest in players, a shame that we didn’t Icardi who picked up a knock. Meanwhile Forres have had a couple of really bad injury hit weeks.

Let’s not beat around the bush, this is a big win for Cambuur against a previously unbeaten Forres. There were times in the game that Forres were very much on top (Forres really do have a spectacular front 4) – maybe the key loss of Kante leaving the CM lighter than we’ve been used to though. But Cambuur are starting to show home form so have plenty of reasons for encouragement. If Forres can have kinder injuries than they’ve had then I fully expect them to be title contenders.

Wellington Phoenix 2-1 Juventus
Wellington Goals: Mkhitaryan x 2 (Coman, Gnabry)
Juventus Goal: Dybala (Lemar)
MOTM: Mkhitaryan

Two teams that both desperately need to start winning for differing reasons – Wellington have missed a couple of games due to Tbag going all Crocodile Dundee; whilt Juve clearly have one of the best teams in the league but have literally not had the rub of the green in a series of matches – I could feel their frustration as they’ve performed far better so far than their points tally would suggest.

So Wellington have their change of fortune, surely Juve must follow suit.

Blyth Spartans 2 v 1 Fishguard Sports
Blyth: Ibra(Iniesta), Berardi(Sturaro)
Fishguard: Dolberg(Brandt)
MOTM: Berardi

Good win this for Blyth. Iniesta had his magic boots on today and MOTM Berardi caused Fishguard a headache all day with his weaving runs inside and generally floating about all across the attacking last third. I think it's Fishguard's first defeat of the season. They played some nice stuff but Blyth's mix of youth and experience had that wee bit too much guile for them.

Goodwick United 2 v 2 Pumas de UNAM
Goodwick: Gibson(Bernardeschi), Mertens(Sigurdsson)
MOTM: Gibsom
Pumas: Auba(pen), Auba(Dembele)

A good point for Goodwick. Maybe unlucky not to get all three. Gibson played a blinder and Mertens was a handful all day. Pumas maybe a wee bit out of sorts today and will be glad they had Auba to rescue a point for them.
