Should We Stick or Twist...?

Is the play-off ambition for this season gone?

We're a long way off the play-off berths but there's still 45 points to play for however!! we're bang out of form and currently heading in the opposite direction. The current play off clubs continue to pick up points and we're being overhauled by the midtable sides presently. We have a game in hand but it's worth zilch the way we're playing.

So; what do we do now? Try bringing in the youngsters? Sack McClaren again? Start to make plans for next season?

We've failed year on year with "The Derby Way" that much is evident. Nobody is even surprised by the annual wheels-coming-off ceremony anymore, so what must be done if we do actually harbour that ambition? I'd be reluctant to write the season off because acceptance of losing becomes a habit, as we saw only too well with our last promotion and subsequent struggle to start afresh the season after. We also changed the manager to prepare for the next season, and that didn't work out well either did it?

I'm of the opinion we carry on regardless; we can't do much about the squad that we have at this point. To condone losing in the name of experimentation breeds the wrong culture within the squad and would be manifestly unfair to those clubs which are still fighting at both ends of the table.

One thing is for sure though; if we don't massively overhaul this squad in the summer then we've written off next season too.

Well, I too thought it was a very good article and I do not mind saying so to my fat friend who does not go to matches.

Very good 666. Well done.

Delighted to report that Conor Sammon is playing brilliantly for Killie, who lead Aberdeen 1-0. Has just had a penalty claim turned down, though this was rather unfairly described as "losing control and throwing himself at the legs of the defender"

Conor Sammon losing control, I don't believe it.

I think we had a narrow miss with that Wildshutt bloke, it seems that the Norwich fans are calling him Wildsh!tt. I didn't want him, he didn't look much good to me when Wigan came to town and his name is too near to Wiemann for my liking.

I'm not watching the Fulham match till they have the sense to bring their best player on.

Saw Mason in that mickey mouse cup at Doncaster earlier this season and hardly recognised him. Hopefully he is in better condition now as I thought his shorts would split if he bent over.

If as I expect, we are playing out the season in the last few games, I would hope to see a few more academy players given a chance.
