Beckham and those 'emails'....

Does the man (if rumour is true) have the right to be piśśed at not getting a knighthood?

Could he argue "less deserving people have received that honour in the past...."?

Some say he's been very calculated and a lot of his non profitable work etc has been with getting a Knighthood in mind.

Whether that's true or not, he can rightfully point out he still did those things..... including help get London an Olympic Games I never believed I'd witness.

So has he been hard done by? Or should he just be patient?

When it comes to "celebrity gongs" I would like to have seen both the 2 Ronnie's get them.....when living.

Yeah any charity is better than none, i just dont think these people are as special and generous as they make out to be, theres alot of people who earn feck all that dedicate time to help those less fortunate, they rarely get the recognition they deserve imo (not that it should be about point scoring)

I've not read or heard a lot of this be Khan stuff, but he's being doing charity stuff for a long time. So it would be a kind of very long term plan if he's been after a knighthood all along.

Whatever reasons he has done some good charity work so I can't begrudge him too much.

Beckham- not be Khan I'm not implying he's been a Star Trek villain all along ..

How I see it is, that with the Charity work he has done you could justifiably argue that he deserves one, however having said that, it is quite unedifying to be (a) needily and desperately seeking to obtain one and (b) Sniping at others like Katherine Jenkins who have been already been recognised and given awards.

If I were in his shoes and I had been outed like that I would be feeling very embarrassed personally.

No I think she got an OBE or something like that, either way it don't look good to be commenting negatively on what other people get, or don't get for that matter. Best avoided if you're after something yourself IMO.

I asked a couple of weeks ago, what does his 'charity work' consist of?

A (paid for) flight to Africa, stay in a top hotel for a couple of nights (paid for), trips out during the day to meet locals that are benefiting from the charity, flattering photos of him 'helping' youngsters, an interview with a few papers/magazines/TV stations. Then back on the road for an hour or so back to his luxury hotel. Repeat the next day before jetting back out (paid for)?

I highly doubt he's there for any length of time, distributing aid or medicine, looking after, helping or caring for the needy. He's not building infrastructure or digging wells or anything is he? Plenty of others will be doing all that though, for a decent amount of time, for little or no pay. They won't get gongs though, so why should someone like him, just because he's a famous face and has been trying to push all the right buttons?

Obviously putting his face to something is more valuable than dishing out aid but knighthoods should never be expected IMO.

The fact he seems to openly crave one is a good indicator he does not deserve one.

I've helped projects (along with many others) to sink wells, install solar powered lights and build schools and medical centres for Afghans - doubt we'll be on any honours list for it though!
