Sturridge has left the La Maga training camp a few days early due to a virus.
Apparently he was ill but wanted to travel and wanted to take part in the double sessions but he hasn't recovered so has travelled home to recover and train at Melwood when he's better.
Really starting to see the end of Studge at Liverpool, such a pity how the last 2 years have gone for him, in 13/14 he was absolutley outstanding, the trip of him, Suarez and Sterling were exceptional in the second half of that season.
His injury at the start of 14/15 really hurt him and the team overall, we all had faith that a fully fit Studge would help with the loss of Suarez, take 50 odd goals out of any team and they will struggle. He's never got back to the level we saw in 2014.
How do the rest of you feel? Time to sell and look to reinvest in a more suitable striker? He's on 150k a week as far as I know so that's a big wage to offer a potential replacement.
He's become a totally different player now, he just can't run in behind like he was so good at in 2014, his first goal v Mansfield is the perfect example of a Sturridge goal, and we haven't seen him make that run in 2 years nearly.
I'll be sad the day he leave, I really like him when he's fit and at the level he can be, great to watch and a constant menace to opposition defenders, but can he ever get to be that player again? To me it looks like he is readjusting his game to suit his body now, as much as I like him I just don't think we can afford to wait around to see if he can adjust and be a suitable player in our system.
Studge gone home

Term sorry didn't mean that this was like the final straw if it came across that way, more this just made me feel he won't be at the club next season amdnpromted me to write this article.
Just struggling to see where he fits in anymore even when fit.

Yeah, I did read it like that! I do agree that he seems to be on his way out though, sadly

How many teams would be able to match the wages he wants and also the transfer fee Liverpool would demand?
It would only be of the big six, so that leaves just five English clubs.

Yeah people were saying the same about Benteke.
Our clubs are all loaded so we won't have trouble finding a buyer.

Terrible mentality, would fit it well at Arsenal.

Another good post, kneerash. It seems everybody but everybody who's a Red on here wants him to get better, to recover, not just his fitness, but his scoring skill. He is still, in my view, a phenomenal player, but in his last outing, towards the end, he had the speed - and the apparent commitment - of a cart horse.
The answer to the question whether he stays or goes depends on where we end up in May. If were top four, CL etc., for me, he stays. If outside top six, gone.

You think that Benteke was on the same wage as Sturridge?
Or that the club would let him go for a fee around what they paid for him?
Or that a club willing to do both would see past his injury record and take a gamble at a total price that will be beyond all but the top six clubs?

Doesn't matter if Benteke was on the same as Sturridge.
I bet this time last year you were saying we wouldn't get £25m for Benteke and would struggle to sell him.
It's the exact kind of crap you come out with.
Somebody will pay for Sturridge because football isn't and has never been rational.

You never fully answered my question. But that's not new.
60k a week and 25-30m is different to 150k a week and 25-30m
Let's see who jumps to buy a player with injury issues.

He just can't seem to get a run of games.. had the potential to be brilliant for us.
Never to be realised.
