Forest V Wednesday Match Thread

After Tuesday night G.B will be looking to establish some discipline and consistency to Forests back line. So far under our interim coaching team we have won three and lost three. The two away defeats to Norwich and Fulham putting the win against Aston Villa firmly in context, considering Villa continue to under perform in their subsequent matches.

Sheffield Wednesday will be a tough game and they will be looking for all three points as they look to cement their place in the top six.
Wednesday currently sit in 6th position after 31 games; having won 16, drawn 7 and lost 8, scoring 39 and conceding 29.
Their last three are all wins, namely Blackburn 2-1, Birmingham 3-0 and Wigan [A] 0-1. In fact they have lost only once in their last 11 games to Brighton & Hove Albion on 20th January losing 2-1 away.

Their away form offers slightly more cheer however; winning 5, drawing 6 and losing 5, scoring 16 and conceding 17 goals.

The visitors are capable of scoring goals from all over the pitch, most notably the strikers, Fernando Forestieri 8, Steven Fletcher 6 and Gary Hooper 5. Midfield is also prolific Kieran Lee scoring 4 and the rest chipping in.

This season Carlos Carvalhal intends to go one better than last season where he took Wednesday to a Play Off Final. Proving that he know's Championship football and how to win! By snatching Jordan Rhodes on loan from Middlesborough on the last day of the window, with a suggested option to buy for £10M in the summer.

Rhodes only made 2 starts all season for Middlesborough and is looking to kickstart his career with his loan move. He has bagged one goal so far in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Brum. Turning provider by heading on for Ross Wallace to score in a scrappy game against Wigan.

Clough had a quite game last time he played, where as Kasami scored a screamer against Fulham?

Not scoring the peno was the problem.

Clough looked bright against Villa and set up McCormack's goal at Norwich and is the future. Kasami is here in loan and had flattered to deceive. May have scored a screamer v Fulham but what else has he done recently?

Sounded like a decent game. Different game if our keeper gets sent off and the pen goes in. Thank you for being so welcoming guys. I appreciate it. Good luck for the rest of the season. I genuinely hope things improve for you

Good trait if you pick up results whilst not playing particularly well. Good luck up there in the top six. Your mission is to beat Leeds in the play off final at Wembley!

6 points clear of Wigan, who we play next. They have a game in hand and better goal difference, needless to say next week will be a huge game.
Looking at today's game, no doubt at all that Westwood should have seen red, you could tell by his reaction what he thought. McCormacks penalty was pants, but these are the moments that define games.
We seemed to have plenty of endeavour, but if teams keep scoring worldies against us and we defend like we did for their second goal, absolute joke defending, there is no way we will survive this season in the championship. We are now starting to see some odd team selections, since the guys were put in permanent charge, possible interference from above, and some even stranger substitutions. My prediction is FAH will panic before long and appoint another manager, just hope it doesn't put Lester and Brazil's nose too far out of joint. As things stand I think we are relegation fodder.

Yep, relegation would be a nightmare with the club in its present condition. The GD is looking a proper problem now after that thumping at Norwich. Don't really know what else Brazil and Lester could do selection-wise today. The continued omission from the squad of Vellios is one question I would like to see an answer to, though.

Could do with a proper reaction from Assombalonga to his recent dropping from the line up. He is the player the rest will be really looking to. Brereton is having a great time of it but it is a big ask of him to maintain his performance level having just broken into the team.

Couldn't fault the effort today. Sounded like they went at Wednesday for the whole 90 mins. Just lacking real quality deliveries into the box and also a bit of movement and know how in there. A number of times on RN they stated that Forest were forward in numbers but on the whole, deliveries into the box weren't really put in with conviction.
Wednesday have got where they are by not conceding many goals so you have to hope Forest come up against more generous defences like Villa's before now and the end of the season.

We defended a lot better against Villa, the ball ran for us and consequently they never scored that second goal.

Missing that penalty was crucial.

The missing Vellios is a mystery is there something wrong with his transfer, like the Greeks still own him?

there was a big stink about this some years ago involving West Ham and Sheffield United?

I think there is something fishy going on with the Vellios situation. It'd be just Forest's luck to get punished for something so obviously wrong like third party ownership.

I think the majority of fans would have Vellios in the squad, certainly on the bench, so why he's being frozen out must be due to something going off behind the scenes.

In the transfer window he tweeted that he is fit, that he wants to play and that he's not going anywhere, but has hardly had a look in.

More mysteries at the CG than your average episode of Scooby Doo these days.
