It doesn't take a genius or a football expert to see that our Harry isn't playing that well and hasn't really been on his game all season. That being said he still has an impressive amount of goals once again with 14 prem goals already. Almost certain to reach over 20 goals for the 3rd season running.
The problem isn't with Harry Kane but the atrocious back up we have to replace him if he is out of form or injured. Hueng Min Son is no striker and never will be so I really won't accept him as our back up. Vincent Janssen is just not good enough and will never make it in this league unfortunately. We have spent well over 50 million on Sissoko, Nkoudou and Jansen ( total waste of money ) and we are back to square one.
We have no one good enough to take Kanes place so we are constantly relying on a terribly out of form Kane and if he's not on his game then who the hell do we rely on upfront? Our squad depth in quality is atrocious considering we were in the CL this season. I suppose no one could predict that Janssen would be this poor but surely someone at this club could identify a decent striker as back up
Harry Kane and signings

I'm not bashing Son at all mate. I like the guy and think he's a good player but he's not a striker and should never be considered one

How many of the 14 are penalties?"
What does that matter? How many of Shearers goals were penalties ? Makes no difference. Harry Kane's goal scoring record is superb.

I'm just asking.
Don't be so hostile.

Actually think Son is a very decent player, can't understand why you'd criticise him. The problem I think, aside from poor recruitment (Sissoko, Janssen), isn't that Kane is off form. It's more that his supply has been poor. Losing Rose and Vertonghen has a huge impact on the creativity of the rest of the team as the freedom they once had to play up top has gone with the need to track back and help out Davies and an exposed back four. It's not just about getting a striker in to score goals, it's about moulding a solid team to create the chances.
The one thing I'd love to see happen is for Ross Barkley to have an absolute stinker in the last couple of months of the season to convince Koeman to swap him for Sissoko and a bit of dosh. He'd be the one I want. I'd give Janssen more time.

Not sure why Barkley having a stinker for the rest of the season would convince you he's what we need? It frankly wouldn't say much about a player who has already flattered to deceive for most of his career so far.

Exactly my point about Shearer. Highly regarded as one of the premier leagues all time great strikers and rightly so but a lot of his goals were penalties (63).... so you can't sit there and try pick holes at Kanes season just because he scored a few pens.

Because I don't need to be convinced of his talents now. I genuinely think he could become a PFA winner at some stage. He just needs to be given the right coaching. He's a brilliant player. If he has a stinker, that will bring the price down to an achievable level and Everton would be willing to sell. We need a number 10 like him. Can't always rely on a very inconsistent Eriksen.

Genuinely don't think him having a stinker will do much to his price tag. He's the most talented player they've brought through since Rooney, doesn't matter how bad he plays Everton won't hold out for less than what they get for Stones in the summer. It'll just turn into another saga to be honest.

We should sign some decent scouts, look at the good players Southampton unearth for relative peanuts compared to some of the over priced carthorses we have ended up with over the years

If Poch could get more consistency out of Barkley then sure I'd take him. But I don't know what would make you think he could seeing as Barkley is already, for all the talent he possesses, more inconsistent than Eriksen, and playing under another good manager who had to single him out in an attempt to give him a kick up the backside, which has garnered a mixed response from Barkley to be fair.
If he then proceeds to have a stinker for the rest of the season, that would put me right off wanting anything to do with him, as it's yet more demonstration this guy doesn't have the attitude on the pitch required for us.
I thought it was slightly telling when Barkley scored the other week and celebrated before putting the ball in the net. It showed me he has a degree of arrogance about him, which would be fine if he had been backing that up until now through great form. Instead it has me believing he thinks he's better than he actually is. Never a good thing.

Squad needs seriously addressing this summer. I thought it looked decent at the start but no squad player has really showed anything at all to suggest they will oust a first team regular. That's really poor.
I don't get why GKN doesn't get more game time though.

Is this Kane's true form we're seeing now though? Has he been punching above his weight these past couple of seasons? I suspect he has.
