We have an academy second to none, they are pulling up trees at every age group but the only constant theme we see in the first team is the same 2nd rate journeymen whenever the manager,be it Mancini Pellegrini or Guardiola, decides to rest the first choice players for a cup competition they decide is not a priority.
If it's not a priority then why on earth do my eyes have to bleed watching the appalling Navas kick the ball at the fullbacks shins,Fernando act like a puppy chasing a balloon or the utterly atrocious Delph who reminds me of players Frank Clark brought into the club
We have so many really decent young prospects that should be miles ahead of this fodder when the opportunity arises but they never get a sniff.
I hope Patrick Roberts stays at Celtic as he's no chance of a career at City with this way of thinking
Give them a chance

Well you keep selling your most talented players/not making use of them, mishandling their loans. Denayer, Manu Garcia, Denis Suarez, Pozo..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well none of them are doing anything. And u missed the biggest talent Ronny Lopez who done nothing aswel. Its not easy to give talent a chance especially with no experience. Rashford is the exception
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well Denis Suarez was great for Villareal and now back up only to Iniesta and Rakitic so not doing badly. Marcos Lopes is another good example, not even the fact they're not 'doing much' right now(al these players are 20 at most and so this in itself is irrelevant - they're prospects because they may well be great in future), I just do find it strange for last few years you've been selling some of your most talented youth prospects on the cheap.

Come on mate suarez done nothing and if he has he has a problem. Everyone thinks barca are done

What comparison is there with Mourinho other than constant obsession. Your teams are winning every league and regularly Tonking United so why would Mourinho Utd think they were good enough?
Iheanacho was much better than Rashford cording to you lot when in truth he has a very limited penalty box game. Maybe your not as good at all levels as you think you are despite signing all the best talent at the best academy with the best facilities.

The comparison with mourinho can stem from his Chelsea days as well not just united so hardly obsession unless you are paranoid. Pep brought through some youth in his early barca years Iniesta, busquets etc. the talent has to be top grade now otherwise how can it replace the talent in the current sides.
Pep also got the best out of some youth at Bayern coman immediately springs to mind.

I'm not buying that because Pep prefers shorter contracts he's only bothered about immediate success, the nature of the signings he made last summer really don't back that up.
I also agree with Melton, the fringe players are going to be used more over the next few months as fixtures pick up again, Pep will see giving them some minutes as of greater importance than handing out a couple of debuts.
That said it's still frustrating, I've seen nothing of Patrick Roberts to make me think he's any less of a player than Jesus Navas. All seems very similar to Pellegrini, and Mancini before, as you say Paul. Maybe it won't happen until somebody like Viera comes in. Despite the pressure of having to compete all the time, I don't see why any reason our squad, let alone starting 11, for an FA cup game should be almost completely void of an academy player.

Pretty sure that was the complete opposite, all of the comments on here were based on Iheanachos and Rashfords performances up to that point, which were comparable. In terms of anyone being much better than anyone else, then it was the prophesising about Rashford (and before that Januzaj...) that did that.

I really want to see academy players given a chance but when we played a few against Chelsea in the cup last season , we get stuffed and accused of disrespecting the competition .
It's a difficult one if Pep wants to win the Cup as it was for Pel last year because of the fixture list

It is. But I don't think it's quite a lose lose. If we go out with a side like yesterday's and put the performance in that they did, people will always say we should have played a couple of the kids. Equally if we go with that side and smash them 5-0, people will still say he should have played one or two. I can't see myself why someone like Garcia can't get a start in a game like that, he was one of our better players in the league cup.

Bloody hell Paul, I had forgotten all about Frank Clark, now I will wake up in a cold sweat dreaming we are back in those days again.
Delph needs some game time before I judge, Navas has pace and, er, pace. Nolito has a suspect temperament, I get the feeling that when it is going his way he is great, when it isn't that his idea of battling is to kick people so I remain to be convinced there I am afraid.
