Blackburn vs United

Those of us of a certain age will remember this fixture with a certain nostalgia. Back in the mid 90s Blackburn were the Chelsea of their time. A side who had big (at the time) financial backing and became a threat to our title and who even won it.

There were some great memories back then.

That great Giggs tackle to set up Cantonas last goal before his long ban, Beckhams chip which I think as his second ever goal for us, Kanchelskis' great smashed in goal, Hughes's great volley, a 3-2 win in 97 which went some way to us retaining our title and that epic final day title shootout (not such a great memory).

There have been some more recent great memories - that 7-1 game, the last minute Tevez goal where he went crazy and the Scholes winner where he danced through their defence.

Seems sad that they've fallen so low now. Hopefully we come away with some good memories of today's game.

Here's how I think we'll line up today...

Romero
Darmian Jones Rojo Shaw
Carrick Bastian
Micky Rooney Lingard
Rashford

Yes we should be fine. He doesn't tend to get very good service. They lump it into the box to him a lot, so we will need to be aerially dominant, and first to the knockdowns and second balls. However, they really don't have any players in midfield that should cause us any problems.

They are by far the worst team I've seen live this season. Worse even than QPR and Rotherham.

TBH i doubt they'd be very much up for this game or at least have much faith, as their focus would be to try to survive the Championship.

If you go off what their players have been saying, the opposite it true. They're well up for it and see the FA Cup as a chance to do something for the fans.

People go in about how stupid we'd be to lose Martial. It's the same with Shaw. The guy could be a great. But like Jose said, coming back from such a terrible injury is really hard mentally. Jose is toughening him up and I'm sure we'll see the best of Shaw next season

Isn't remotely the same. Shaw's not very good. In fact he's down right poor majority of the time. Can't attack for toffee and his defensive side of his game leaves a lot to be desired.

At the time I thought Rooney, Carrick and Jones were out.

Apparently they're all fit

I'd like to be annoyed at this but you've pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Sam Gallagher and Elliot Bennett can be dangerous but, with both out, it's going to be Conway crossing on to Graham all game.

I'd rather they play the youth side.

Unfortunately I've not kept up to date with their club affairs. But credit to them for trying to give back to their fans in their current situation.

I think Shaw has been around so long, people tend to forget how incredibly young he still is. Plenty of time to work on the weaker aspects of his game (and his mentality if that is an issue).
