Fletcher, Gibson, Cleverly and Lingard

Which ONE would you choose. We didn't get a proper chance to have a discussion yesterday so i thought i create another article and have a proper discussion. So my question is from the likes of fletcher, gibson, cleverly and lingard which one would you have in your team bearing in mind we are talking about their abilities from age 20 - 25. These are my views on the players

Fletcher - Every time i saw him play i only saw him as a work rate player nothing more. You can clearly see he wasn't a very confident player in midfield. Too many sideways passes, passing back to defenders and rarely played a ball forward. You may wonder why he was selected for so long and i'm not saying this but according to Ferdinand "Darren Fletcher was the teacher's pet of Manchester United, stating he "never got a bollocking ever" from Sir Alex Ferguson. "Fletcher understood he was the teacher's pet, yeah". now saying all this fletcher was a vital player back in 2008

Gibson - I was actually happy when Gibson broke into the team, he had a pass on him and he could definitely hit a ball. The only problem was he was too injury prone and didn't take advantage when played in midfield.

Cleverly - Fletcher pt 2 but much more negative player. Every time i saw him on the pitch this guy evading everything, did not want to take responsibility. I was surprised to see him play well for watford, he played more forward passes playing against us for Watford than he did for us in 5 years.

Lingard - Apart from movement this guy is such a wasted player. He focuses his time on dabs and dancing rather than hitting the gym. Lingard should not be first choice player at most cup player when playing lower teams. Every time i have seen lingard player almost every match this guy gets bullied off the match, he has pace to beat players but still gets knocked off the ball. In the final third, he's so clueless yesterday match we're in opposition box twice he could not pick his teammates. To me if he wishes to stay in the team he HAS to improve in other aspects of the game, he's getting picked only because of his movement and stretching the defence.

There you have it, overall if i had to choose one player in midfield and yes you would be surprise it would be gibson if it wasn't for his injuries. comparing the 4 of them he's the one who looked like he could do something in midfield when given the chance. The others are/were too negative players for me. so who would it be for you?

I understand very well. Fletcher isn't a Scottish great, never said he was a United great either. He was a great team player and great in big games. A great career which has landed him with a bucket load of medals.

Did Darren Fletcher shaag your misses by any chance?

For someone who doesn't consider Fletcher a great player, you sure do have a tendency to overuse the word "great".

Did you ever suck each other off by any chance?

I do, as the more I say great the more all over the place you seem. It's as Tony the Tiger would say.

Also I still fail to see where I lied.

Try harder.

Erm, no. The more you say it the more you sound like an idiot raised on the chit that is Scottish football.

I can understand your frustration at developing so few players worth a damn...but massively overrating the few half decent players that Scotland has produced in the last 20 years is not the answer.

Cleverley could have made it at United IMO. Would have been an excellent squad player to have.

Don't know about excellent but I agree he was better than a lot of the stick he gets...Wasn't sorry to see him leave though tbh.

PS clearly you don't understand what the word "great" means.

Robson was great. Scholes was great. Keane was great.

Fletcher might have been great by Scottish standards - in England that means "average

He was great for a couple of years, really good. You're an idiot.

Proved my point. Talking about Scottish football now. Absolutely all over the place. Not too surprising you fail to grasp an understanding of the game with the random nonsense you spout on your tangents.

As for being raised on the Scottish game, clearly, not like possibly the greatest manager of all time and Uniteds legendary manager Ferguson eh

Fletcher was never as good or as influential for Scotland as he was for United. We tried to use him as a more attacking midfielder, and although he clearly could contribute now and then and had great composure he wasn't a playmaker. No I watched United, and saw the impact he had there. Blindingly obvious.
