Young was MOTM for me too. Good dribbling and strong work rate up and down the flank.

I agree, he arguably played better yesterday than Valencia has all season.

Of course, Valencia's consistency and performances against better teams has to be taken into account, and i'm in no way knocking the season Valencia is having... Just that when a squad player has as good a game as Young did, yesterday.. It asks a question of whether he should be dropped back down or given more starts,

I would only put him in if we have fellaini on the pitch to cross the ball as he is propably the one of players that has a decent cross.

I couldn't have made it clearer how much I have rated Valencia, this season... But he has not had a game like Young did, yesterday, where he was dominating the LB time and again and getting dangerous balls into the box.

Feel free to name me a game where valancia was demonstrably better.

Young is deadwood and needs to be the next out the door.

I dont buy this argument that its good that he isn't making a fuss about not playing and happy to be a squad player. Its not like he was a John O'Shea where he played a lot of games but just to fill in for people, Young can barely get a game full stop.

He must be happy sitting on his backside earning 120k a week just to rock up and get crack with the lads every day.

He's not on £120k per week.

On the OP, Young was great yesterday, but Valencia has been outstanding for the majority of the season and should remain first choice.

But it's positive that we have Young to call on when required at RB or LB given the number of games we have left to play.

Most games this season. Blackburn are one of the weakest teams we have played this season. Their left winger had a fantastic chance to score where young got caught out.
Valencia I can't think of one game where he gas been dominated this season and he has played in all the big games

I thought Young was the best player in our back four yesterday. Mourinho's praise sums it up though: his performance means he has the option to rest Valencia when necessary.

Toni looked knackered last time out. He's been a rock, but too many matches aren't good, having Young as backup is perfect for this season.

I much prefer Valencia at RB. I do think he can play in place of Lingard or Mata on occasion though
