Memories of Millwall

Back in 1967 we were drawn away to Millwall in R3. They had a long unbeaten record of 60-70 games at home which ended (if my memory serves) their last home match before playing us.
The game ended 0-0 and we were outplayed by one Irishman Eamon Dunphy in midfield (who went on to be a totally facking useless pundit and s0-called football journalist).
On my way home from the ground I was set upon by 4 Millwall fans (I had my Spurs rosette and scarf, maybe not the sensible choice) who tried to provoke me into taking them on - yeah just as if.
The replay was tightly contested and we won 1-0 before going on to lift the cup against Chelsea

I spent possibly the most frightening day of my life at The Old Den back in 77. The horrific sights I saw there are to numerous to recount.

I couldn't have been more relieved to get on the train out of New Cross and escape the carnage, didn't care where it was going as long as it was away from there.

To make it worse we lost 3-0, which was probably a good thing as it would have made them madder if they'd lost.

I never went back again!

I went to a NLD at Highbury on Boxing Day back in the late 80s in the days when if you were early enough you could just turn up and pay at the door.

In the Spurs end at half time about 100 fans opened their coats to reveal blue Millwall shirts. The nutters had turned up as their game had been cancelled. As you can imagine it got a bit lively.

NYD 86, Chelsea and West Ham went to the derby as our game was cancelled.

Chelsea and West Ham had fans in North Bank and Clock, and both ran Spurs.

It's gonna be an interesting affair off the field maybe not on it should just be a straight forward 2-0,3-0 victory same as gent on Thursday!

Off the field gonna be crazy. all the old faces are out the old faces have served there time and are in there fifties one last hurrah and all that.

I've worked for millwall and lived in the area some of the faces are just crazy. Last year I was in a pub in elephant and castle 11am in the morning (I wasn't drinking but it was the only place open other than the war museum.) and a load of them wanted a fight cos they didn't think I was one of them. 11am in the morning for god sake.

Be a good affair though on the field poor West Ham will be crying into their pillows!

Yeah West Ham fans will be hoping we beat their bitter rivals. There hasn't been a Dockland Sccum Derby for a few years now.

Gents, what do you genuinely think the chances are of trouble at the game?

Considering whether to bring along the wife, or a big, burly lad instead :o

Unless your wife looks like that 'Woman' in the Money Supermarket advert, who frightens all the strutters off, I'd pick your boyfriend!
