Liverpool have 5 European cups.

Man United have 3.

Domestically, United have taken pole position thanks to the man I think is football's best ever manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Logically the next goal for the club is to overtake the rest of our domestic rivals in terms of European success. This season United are in the Europa league and I would absolutely love to see us win a trophy we've never won before. Beyond though, the club have to aim to win the bigger brother of the European trophies again. There is a lot of rebuilding work that has been done so far and a lot still to be done in the coming seasons. I see the next manager to write themselves into United legend as being the man who catches Liverpool in Europe.

It's good for things to feel on the up again. Mourinho has a lot to prove based on his first 3 quarters of a season in charge but finally I'm happy to admit the positive signs are there.

5 if we can somehow win the Europa this year

Equivalent to Liverpool's "treble" last decade.

The Europa league is important, there are only 4 clubs who have won all 3 European trophies, & we will join them if we win the Europa. It’s just a shame Chelsea beat us to it.

Not bad for a club with no history!

At the moment I can't seem to think when the Premier League will go onto have some dominance back in Europe like it did between 2005 - 2012 with an English club in each final, bar one.

It's worrying because despite having the best Managers, the most money, we can't seem to do much dominance with it.

We are only really 8 months into this spell of having the best managers and most money... Give them a chance!!!

If your definition of success is winning more EC than us you need to reassess.

Great score prediction.

However in Fergies dominant years, when we were challenging for the title on a regular basis, the CL was a more exciting competition to win imo.
____________

Absolutely. After winning the league a few times, the CL was the Holy Grail since we had not won it since 1968! 31 years was far too long. In truth, ten years feels far too long...

In order to be considered one of the biggest/best clubs in Europe, you have to succeed in Europe. Simple as that.

Well the great Liverpool didn't win much during the SAF era apart the early era. Surely that proves how great SAF was to win with much tougher competition.
