Team for Sunday?

(Assuming that Carrick and Mkhi don't make it)

I'd go:

------------------------------------DDG

--------Tony V--------Smalling------Bailly--------- Blind

--------------------------------Schweini

--------------------------Pogba------Herrera

----------------Mata----------------------------------Martial

----------------------------------Zlatan

*Rashford as impact sub

I'd put lots of money on that not being the team, but I'd like to see that personally.

I think Mata is a must, I would also go for Bastien but Jose won't, and that's OK with me, especially with the results we're getting.

He hasn't beaten Saints, the team did, maybe despite him. I'm not saying do or don't play him, Jose has his own opinions, but your reasoning for playing him is poor. You don't use the same reasoning for players you don't like.

Just a figure of speech

I'm just living in the real world. He's often picked by Jose, will likely be played on Sunday and yet I'm made out to be a madman because I want what's likely to happen happen.

Go figure

I was responding to a claim that Fellaini playing well tonight doesn't mean anything as Saints would be tougher. I responded by saying Fellaini played (and played well) against Saints and really can't see why people are so terrified of him starting. He's not that bad.

So angry with Mourinho right now, Mhiki and Carrick both out on Sunday, no need to play that strong team. They are a mid table French team FFS.

We're playing a mid table English side on Sunday

With Mkhi out I think Mata is important, we need his creativity and passing.

Southampton are a good side, but they're not one we need to fear. If it were a league game I think we'd be able to field Herrera as the deepest, with Pogba and Mata infront. Then any 2 of Lingard, Martial or Rashford flanking Ibra.

Otherwise, Mata for one of the wingers and Fellaini in the middle to make a 3.

Would people still go with Bailly/Smalling ?

Or Rojo

A midfield three of Pogba, Herrera and Mata would be plenty good enough. We don't want give away silly free kicks all game so Fellaini isn't needed.

Got a feeling Mkhi will be fit, and Jose was just using the opportunity to cast doubt over his team selection.

Fellaini didn't do badly today at all but we were 3-0 up going into second leg and got an early 4th too.

I still don't fancy him in central midfield. Saints will give us a much harder game and I think the added experience and know how of Schweini shielding the back 4 could be vital.

Fellaini played in CM and had a very good game against Saints at OT this season

I know people aren't his biggest fan but he's already beaten Saints this season and started a cup final we won last season

Still banging that drum

Jose is too

Don't really see what he'll offer us against Southampton, they don't have the biggest team.

Like's been said would rather someone better on the ball like Bastian, he's not rash and can dictate the play. Fellaini as a sub if we're playing pants and need to bypass the midfield.
