...and why they are awful.
I love film. Generally, all genres. Except for one. Musicals.
Why is this? Why do they exist? Why do people seem to enjoy them? Well speaking for myself I find them to be nightmarish. Just absolute chaos. How else would you describe someone having a conversation with another person about something serious only to start singing their conversation while also having a dance? If it were to happen in real life I would freak out. Probably punch them in the throat or something.
Also, seeing complete strangers join in and be completely in sync with each other's dance moves drives me mad. How did you know what the other person would do? How can you remain immersed in a film with such ludicrous acts? Another thing is those dance mob things that were famous for 12 seconds. That was horrific but everyone knew they practiced together.
It's all just so over the top and even drugs couldn't help me enjoy a musical.
Now I will admit there are some I enjoy but they're a lot less chaotic. Sing Street for one isn't about the random bursts of song. It's a band writing and performing songs so it makes sense. Although the dream routine near the end I hated.
Million Dollar Hotel is considered a musical I guess but in a different way. Not much performing or dancing but very musically driven. Haven't seen it for years though. Have a feeling it's not very good.
Anyways what say you? What do you hate/like about musicals?

Uncultured peasants.

I wouldn't go that far and insult those who make them...But I get your anger.

I've never understood films were the cast spontaneously burst into song for no apparent reason!
Awful and should be outlawed!

Still get that pie song in my head whenever I see a mince pie.
Anything that's lean.
Well, then, if you're British and loyal,
You might enjoy Royal Marine!
Anyway, it's clean.
Though of course, it tastes of wherever it's been!

Oh and I really like That Thing You Do...But like I said, that's more of a band performing.
