The same could be true for us if we'd had paid Alli what he wanted. Unfortunately both clubs operate with some restraint compared to other 'top 6' clubs, in terms of wages.

Alli wages were feck all when he first joined. You saying you weren't willing to pay 5mill for him? That's just daft

I was fuming at the time. Think I even wrote an article on your board about it.

The best prospect in the country at his age, a Liverpool fan and we mess about with his wages when we know a club with similar standing is also interested.

When fully fit, Tottenham's first eleven is as good as anyone's in the league, with the possible exception of Chelsea who have more genuine world class players.
But their quality in depth isn't really that much better than Liverpool and is behind Arsenal.

It seems odd there was not more interest to be honest.

I never saw him at MK, but he must have looked amazing at that level.

5m is a relative pittance for PL clubs, and the wages a drop in the ocean for the wealthier clubs.

Considering United have spent big on Smalling and Zaha in the past, City on Patrick Roberts, Chelsea on lots of younger players, Arsenal on Walcott, Ox and Ramsey

I saw him at MK Dons and he looked technically better than everyone around him. A bit lightweight but that's to be expected. He was always going to be a very good player. That's what annoyed me.

Alli wasn't a Liverpool fan. he had no club, Gerrard was just his favourite player.... apparently.
