Wanyama

According to report in the Telegraph Victor only cost us £9m,

If this is true, it is probably one of the best bargains of all time! Or at least over the past few years!

He has been one of our most consistent performers this season and in my opinion one of the reasons we are 2nd in the PL.

HRH..............................I remember reading that Townsend had the worst goals to shots ration in the whole of English league football.

Something like 250 shots and only one goal

Maybe I am old fashioned, but I have always believed a genuine wingers role is to get to the byline and cross the ball. After that it is the other player's responsibility to get the ball in the net. Very simplistic I know, but it does actually work most of the time.

By the way, let's give Walker some credit this season, he has been excellent both defending and going forward

My original point (which led down this sideroad) did just that

Maybe i was guilty of opening the side road. I queried the "traditional winger" description as my view is the one described by Genius and i didn't feel Walker was an exact fit.

Having said that, i think he certainly ticks a lot of those boxes, to me he's more of an "overlapping" fullback. He doesn't posess the dribbling skills of a winger in the traditional sense but relies on his speed to beat an opponent.

He's having a good season and has cut out some of the defensive errors he was prone to. I don't think i'd want to swap him for any of the others playing his position in the PL. If he could just deliver the ball into the box like Trippier that would be the icing on the cake.

Spurg

I think Walker has added extra to his game over the last couple of years. Although he has that great powerful stride, and good burst of pace which he uses in the main to great effect, he is more than just a straight runner now.

He has nobody to overlap in the 3 at the back, he is essentially a winger

Townsend with a great bit of wing play there, then cuts inside and scores

Townsend scored a goal? Blimey

Funnily enough I think Rose would be a better pure winger than Walker, his close control is superior and that's more important in an attacking position

Well Rose was a winger until an older age, he would've been at least a championship player in that position whereas Walker was converted to RB as a youth

I think Rose was an attacking midfielder at Leeds, and it wasn't until Spurs (at 16?) that he went to the wing.

Walker was a centre forward early on I believe
