I really hate airports

You turn up and get herded around like cattle, then you endure the 3 hour or whatever flight, then you wait ages for your cases at your destination.

You finally exit the destination airport and then, and only then, they allow you to have a cigarette.

I mean would it be that much trouble to create just a tiny smoking section somewhere in the airport?

They have them in places like Turkey.

Little wonder there's so many freaked out looking people at airports, charging around choking for a snout.

I once sat next to Barry Ferguson on a flight back from Dubai.

He took his shoes off.

Lovely white sports socks.

I sat next to Tommy Gemmell on a flight back from Cyprus ,he was an absolute gem he entertained my son with stories about Parkhead and Larsson who was just back for that season after injury.Very sad for his family losing a proper geezer.

I work at an airport , but never fly anywhere. Bit odd really, been traveling to airports for over 15 years but never board a flight

Modern baggage systems very rarely lose bags , but there are always the odd glitch when the system goes down and there are not enough staff to process the bags.

Airports are so dependent on IT systems now, that when the IT systems fail occasionally, there is no real adequate manual process able to cope.

Interesting to read about how many of us frequent airports. Some of us must have passed each other in terminals at some point.

Yes, it's a shame airports are more stressful environments now compared to the past. Security has made it that way. Hopefully technology breakthroughs in the future will make it less stressful.

Yes, I did see that.

Crazy to see the volume of air traffic over the UK, especially over London.

I live down south and its common to see 7 or 8 planes in the sky at the same time.

Yes, Dubai airport is pretty impressive. I have an above average understanding of these baggage systems, because of the work I have done around airports over the years and its a constantly evolving and modernizing system. Its probably the highest priority application in the airport. That and check-in.

With Check-in issues you can probably attempt a manual process, but if baggage goes, its Mayhem!! Airports see baggage systems as an ultra high priority system.

Check out the short links below. Imagine trying to manually cater for this system failing in just one terminal. Imagine a failure on this in multiple terminals!
