Emre Can

Won't sign a new deal unless the club doubles his wages to take him to £70,000 a week apparently. How long has he got left on his current deal? Thoughts?

Can is younger with far far less experience than all of those players.

Karius and Moreno are better players to compare his wage level too.

Players of Cans age don't get parity with some of the clubs top earners unless they are exceptional first team players whose performance level demands that parity.

Can hasn't done enough to be earning the same as 27 year old first team players with 400 games behind them.

So what would you suggest? Don;t renew his contract and let him leave on a free? Sell him this simmer and invest 3 or 4 times as much as it would cost to keep him in a new player?

Massive performance related pay and stuff I guess. It's tricky.

Well, thats it. There should cetainly be performance related bonuses in the contracts. It seems to make sense that you are rewarded for performances/wins. However, in this case we are looking at a contract renewal. Can's agent should absolutely come to the table looking for increased money.

So we either find a middle ground with an increase in pay, sell him and look for a replacement at greater cost, or let him go on a free next summer and look for a replacement.

I think he's a useful squad player with plenty of upsides and a lot of inconsistency which is not uncommon at his age. Give him a better contract, build in performance bonuses. Everyones happy

In our favour I can't imagine any other club paying him the reported £70k on offer let alone £100k.

Robbing has based his happy clapping JA606 argument on the fact that we are the 6th in the wages. He will be gutted that we are above City and Arsenal

Oh do shut up you buffoon. You find where I have written that and I'll give you a

You've simply made it up.

Stick to cricket lad.

It was either you are your side kick Kneerash who kept saying:

We are 6th in wages department so should expect to finish 6th.

I still think it was you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You keep dragging me into these happy clappers arguments I've never said what you say above however if you don't understand he correlation between wages and league position then there is little I can do to educate you skip

You know we're fourth right?

If he leaves on a free they absolutely would. 4 years. 3.5 mil a year. Essentially a mere 15mil investment to get a player like Can.

Bournemouth paid that much for Ibe and thats without factoring in his wages.

Certainly not a club of our calibre.

Maybe a lesser PL team like Stoke or West Ham.

For me, there's no middle ground with Emre; he's either quite poor or very good. Has he shown the consistency thus far to justify a doubling of his salary? For me, no, not yet.
