It's worrying ...

... I know he wasn't in the team on Saturday night against Arsenal, and the team played brilliantly in his absence, but Jordan's continual non-availability is worrying. By the time of the City game, we will definitely benefit with him back in the team. But by then, having missed he previous three games, he's not going to be at top level, despite his commitment.

Nothing new either on Daniel. Still not available, presumeably through illness. I've got sympathy for him, he's back into a near-permanent roll of sickness/injury, and when he fit, doesn't get beyond the bench; Divock is clearly staking his claim, and his final sprint and pass to Gini to score the third goal was for me the highlight of the game. Daniel just seems to be fading away into the distance, and that is tragic.

I just find it incredibly cringeworthy and it is a very small minority of people that would do it when discussing players either with your mates or on a fans forum.

I can understand it with players who wear their forename on their shirts but I don't think any of the players mentioned do that

Even the best known players worldwide are still known as Messi/Ronaldo not Lionel or Cristiano

JTR you are in a very small minority that address the players the way you do.

I call our players Toby and Jan because it is quicker than writing Alderweireld and Vertonghen

Nozla, very interesting. And the empirical evidence in support of your view?

I'm with JTR on this one, although he usually talks more sense that a lot of posters. Doesn't everybody refer to our ex-captain as Stevie G?

The "Our Luis" comment about Suarez the other night was rather strange

Maybe people who actually live in Liverpool would refer to Gerrard as Stevie G but it is not a nationwide thing

I'd say you're in the minority actually.

Go on a Spurs thread and see the words Harry and Toby. Go on Utd's and find Wayne and Wazza. Arsenal's you will find Theo. Leicester's you will find Wes.
