Should they stay or should they go?

If they go there will be trouble, but if they stay it will be double....

35 years ago, The Clash saw the FFP clearout coming. So, in line with Mel's new found frugality, who fits in the new structure?

5-7 "High earners"
7-9 "Standard Championship contracts"
+ Promising youth players making the weight.

There's a few factors at play here, who's got another few years in them? who is(are) the elusive bad egg(s)? Who is going to want too much money or too much playing time? There's some big decisions to make this summer.

For me, the spine is lacking, in several senses. We need to prioritise forming a solid core of a team, with the backbone to match.

High Earners:
Carson
Keogh
Hughes
A N Other (namely a combative central midfielder with bite)
Vydra (we've probably already forced our own hand here)
Ince (with the caveat that if an offer comes in, possibly maximise our return on him)
Martin? (same again? given the contract offered?)

Standard Championship contract:
Baird (for another 1 year)
Pearce
Olsson
Thorne (if by some miracle, fit ever again)
Bryson (a spent force but decent squad player)
Johnson (he'll remain on probation, kept because we can't get rid mainly)
Anya
Camara (I still think he may yet improve)
Weimann (not had a chance to shine)
Nugent (for another year)

Youths to fill in:
Lowe
Rawson
Hanson
Elsnik etc

Can go:
Christie
Shackell
Forsyth (if fitness cannot be proven)
Butterfield
Russell
Blackman
Bent
Plus, depending on offers received Johnson, Camara, Weimann, Thorne

The only person I'd be looking to bring in is a aggressive central midfielder, and if no Thorne a permanent signing at DM as the various loanees are not cutting it in an important position.

666 - he is the only payer we have who shows any real passion on the pitch in games. Admittedly, he looks like a drug addled psycho.

Oh, and that goal was Bucko's fault not Keogh's

And speaking of Bucko, there can be no assessment of the value added by a player with indefategable enthusiasm/committment, even when other players might have better skills.

Couldn't agree more Cat.
99% perspiration 1% inspiration
Not enough sweat bring spilled by our current crop. Bucko was always "up for it"!

Yes Igor I would swap positions but Huddesfield looked terrible last night. They kept giving the ball away and their number 10 was the worst for this. Fielding made several good saves, I always remember him letting Ince score 3 for us. I used to like him but he made some bad mistakes, I used to think it was Taylor's coaching.

Rowett knows. That's a 442 all day long with Vidra/Nuge front two.

Agree 100% Darley Abbey

Agree Griff, Pearson should be sent to jail for getting rid of 2 of our best players, the imbecile.

this was obvious before we signed him, even from the videos you could find of him on YouTube (which usually in most cases oversells players by only showing what they're good at)

In his case even these highlight reels made him look poor, showcasing this very weakness over and over again, even in the cases where he set up goals the crosses looked mishit rather than aimed, but the majority of the clips were runs followed by losing the ball and some tame goals.

I do have to question the scouting network that picked him up, he was the weakest attacking link in the team we got him from, and while I could understand him being signed as 'one for the future' there seemed to be expectation that he perform right away, if anything signed as a player for the premiership at a time when promotion looked likely.

We don't seem to have had a good scouting network since the Burley days.

From day 1 I've asked why we signed camara. I just don't get it. £1.75m and he replaced Dawkins who went for next to nowt. I just don't get why the fans sing his name so much. He has to be 1 of the worst players I've seen play for Derby
