Missing CL next season

If you miss out on CL footy next season, will there be any ramifications regarding the deal with Adidas?

Would you miss out on a lot of money?

It drops from £75m a season to £55m i believe until we get back in it.

£55m would still be right up there among the biggest deals in England though i think so it wouldn't kill us at all.

But CL qualification is worth £60m + the extra £20m from Adidas so it would be nice to have.

Yup, however rich the club that £50-70m is a huge figure...and it's fair to say that the United wage bill is not designed with constant EL football in mind.

There is also the intangible image of the club...miss out on CL 2 years out of 3, and you can claim to be a CL club taking a temporary break from it. Miss out 3 years in 4, and people start to see you as a EL club.

Of course miss out 6 years in 7 and people start to see you as Liverpool.

£20m is nothing to Man Utd, pocket change, Bobby Chartlon sponges more than that in Rich Tea biscuits and stationary off the club every year.

Ace really has issues with Sir Bobby. Probably because the nearest thing Tottenham have to him is Chaz and Dave and their jellied eels.

Money wise it does not matter at the moment. We have a lot of money

If we miss out again it would be 3 times in 4 seasons. Really poor.

Although the journey after Fergie was always likely to be bumpy. And we wouldn't trade that almost 30 year period for anything.

Surely no matter if you have a lot of money, missing out on 20 mil is not to be taken lightly? That's a lot of money.

It would be 80m because CL group stage money pays 60m too.

It is a lot of money to miss out on. We wouldn't be in any danger though.

Yeah but the club also misses out on 150m every time they don't win the Euro lottery.

Can't really say we lose 60m if we don't have it.

That's a nonsense argument shinjury. Hahahaha

Our club doesn't budget for Europa football on a yearly basis. Pretty sure when we broke the transfer record last summer and got one of the best managers on the market that Europa football was even discussed.

I think we'll see a real tightening of the purse strings if we miss out again.
