Explaining the inexplicable

So Wolves win 3 on the bounce. 10 points from 4 games. Largely the same players that played so abysmally when they lost 6 games on the trot and, of course, the same manager.

We played so, so poorly during February, and have played so well in the last 2 games (let's forget the win against Rotherham).

How can you explain that?

Cavaleiro has made a difference. Weimann has really performed well. Costa seems to have returned to the player we know he is.

For me the confidence has returned to the squad. It's such a shame that we didn't pick up some points from those 6 defeats, particularly Burton, Wigan and Birmingham all games we should have won. Just those 9 points would have us just behind the play-offs.

Even Lambo seems to be more confident in terms of his team selections and substitutions.

I suppose the explanation is really - "That's football for you" or more probably - "Wim Wolves ain't we?

I think the Tony Pulis question has also been answered several times. Last season, many were unhappy with the over-cautious and often negative approach towards opponents we should have taken the game to more. That was apparently justified by our reportedly small squad, which many Albion supporters didn't buy, and vindicated by our easily staying in the Premier League. This season, it's been even easier, and fewer supporters have been unhappy because we have played better football by signing quality players - Chadli from Spurs and Livermore from Hull - and with the return of key players from injury such as Brunt and Morrison, and we are now beating the teams around us and scoring 2, 3 and 4 goals in the process. As for the Arsenal game, it was free on telly, and 1,500 or so fans took advantage. And I remember even Wolves having to halve prices for a televised home game against Derby one Friday evening two seasons ago. Otherwise, you'd have got 13,500.
But all this is just a diversion from the real question. If Wolves are so good, how come you've spent 25 of the last 30 years in the lower divisions? You have been really mismanaged, and you have been made to look like amateurs by far better run clubs. Owners who have given up on you, and too many low quality 'squad players' who can barely cut it in the Championship.

So that's all the season ticket sales and you are saying besides the season tickets we would not have sold a single ticket, when at the time we were going for the playoffs? You really can't be that stupid!

I think it is a very good question, if we can get 30k plus in Div 3 how come you can't get better home gates? It says a lot for our fans really, even the drivel we have had over the last how many years we still get 20k at home and when considering some away teams bring 300 hundred that is amazing!!!

Take your pick from any of the above really and still the fans come in good numbers!

Don't know why baggies fans get all defensive on this subject as there is no shame to not being as well supported as one of the countries great clubs regardless of our woes.

We are a bigger more famous club so naturally we are better supported, the end.

I am not looking to create any Wolves/Albion argument aries but you seem intent on doing so. What I am asking is why Albion cant fill the home areas of the ground in one of their biggest games of the season. You are telling me Albion fans are pleased with both the position in the league and the quality of football. Yet in spite of that there were many empty seats. I think if Wolves were in the same league position and fans were enjoying the football being played, then a sell out for a game against Arsenal would be a formality, even if it was a teatime game on TV.

If you look at my previous replies, you will find reference to my opinion of Wolverhampton people being suckers when it comes to watching football, any old hoofball, or drivel as you rightly call it. Two wins and mugs flock to Molineux expecting to see a team pushing for promotion, only to end up fighting in the stands and in the streets afterwards. That's Wolves fans.
By contrast, Albion fans have come to expect better things and they have higher standards, so they won't accept just any old football.

You're one of the Championship's worst-run clubs, that's for sure, and imagine being a STH and seeing your team losing nine home games abjectly to Wigan, QPR and Birmingham and the rest. What a mess you're in.

You are misquoting me and being selective with your quotes.
What I said was not that 'Albion fans are pleased with... the quality of football' but that fewer Albion fans are unhappy with the football. There is a big difference between those two statements and you need to learn it.
I also said that the free TV affected the gate. If you think Wolves would have had a full house notwithstanding, you are entitled to your opinion.

You must be on TV every week then because you got 22k vs West Ham and 21k vs Swansea!

By contrast, Albion fans have come to expect better things and they have higher standards, so they won't accept just any old football.

I seem to remember Wet Bum fans protesting against Pulis outside the ground..........

Yet we have had 30k at home this season and 27k 3-4 times must be more loyal I guess than a team 8th in the Prem getting 21k at home.

24k at home for a team 8th in the Prem at home vs Arsenal on a Saturday is pathetic no matter which way you look at it, how many does your ground hold 29-30k? Why aren't the fans going? Or is it you just haven't got that many fans?

Wolves55, if you can't understand English, or you simply don't read, there is no point arguing with you.

One example from your own post above:

'By contrast, Albion fans have come to expect better things and they have higher standards, so they won't accept just any old football.'
....................................................................
'I seem to remember Wet Bum fans protesting against Pulis outside the ground'

If you can't see it, ask somebody else to show you.

Finally, you can check Albion's ground capacity for yourself. It's not difficult.
