The next two games

Looking at the fixtures for the teams around us, as long as we get our job done we should be able to gain a few places in what is essentially now our mid table mini league.

WBA - 43(+1) - Utd A / Wat A
STO - 36 (-9) - Lei H / Bur A
SOU - 33 (-3) - Bou H / Pal H
BOU - 33(-12) - Sou A / Liv A
WHA - 33(-12) - Hul A / Ars A
BUR - 32(-11) - Tot H / Sto H
WAT - 31(-15) - Sun H / WBA H
LEI - 30 (-14) - Sto H / Sun H
PAL - 28 (-10) - Che A / Sou A
SWA - 27(-27) - Mid A / Tot H

I wouldn't really want to guess who will pick up what points but some of the teams around us are going to drop points so we have to take this chance but I'm quietly confident that we will. I'll guess we'll be 11th.

Oh it's so nice to be looking up the table again and for once I'm actually going to enjoy this international break. Buzzing to be a City fan again

I mentioned before that from a coach I speak to at the club, there haven't been great things said about Rudkin, but to be honest, a lot of this is about his personality in relation to arrogance.

Two things have stood out though:

1) more than one person has spoke to me about how he isn't a football man and hasn't ever kicked a ball in his life (not that this necessarily is a damning critique)

2) he is obsessed with the data analysis side of player evaluation of current and prospective personnel. This has been something we have invested in quite a lot and I think has reaped benefits but there has been suggestions that this 'moneyball' style analysis is being taken a little too far:

Stories of him moaning that, despite youth players/potential signings having a good game, the analysis showed they 'didn't have a single touch with their left foot' etc

And further suggestions that, to some extent on occasions, this data analysis is replacing us actually sending coaches to see players live

My own view is that, although I'm not sure there was a lot of success in spite of anything detrimental from Rudkin, I'm not sure either he contributed to it that much either and with or without him at the club, last season would have happened

Well point two would certainly explain why we don't bid enough for players.

I have had worked on Projects for the CeO and you need to remember why she us at our club.
She represents the owners business interests and as a close family friend is there most trusted employee.

She has no interest in football if you see her at a match she's on her mobile. So there no danger her getting involved there. But she will set a budget that the DoF and the management team and they will work within that and if they need more pocket money she will go to Dad.

We have doubled our wage bill over the last few seasons etc. But i don't think its down to money.

The players purchased in the Summer come from Walshy and his team so the same criteria would of been used. If a player has been bought without being watched then that's criminal.
January is the wrong time to try and buy players Huff don't come up that often.

Next summer had better be well organised and we need a long term manager in place prior to the window opening.

The problem is not bidding enough for players, if we actually offer what a player is worth we'll have a lot more chance of signing them.

i agree if that's the case but how do we know, what respected Journo's and agents say can be taken with a pinch of salt. If the player wants to come they can always ask for a transfer.

Not all players that want to leave a club force a move. Many actually have some integrity and will honour their current club unless a satisfactory bid has been received and accepted. This isn't something new, it happens all the time.

KTF - didn't Ranieri used to play the game? Not sure how anyone can intimate that he's never kicked a ball in his life, he was a professional player

Wasn't it Rudkin he was talking about having never kicked a ball?
