If so, then I believe we're saying fare-thee-well to (IMO) if not the best CB of the Premier League era, to certainly the best English CB of the Premier League era.
JT and Chelsea have been fantastic for each other.
I don't think i've ever seen a more 'natural' captain of Chelsea and on the pitch...........England.
I think Fabio Capello could see this, because when the whole world believed the captaincy was going to Rio in 2008, apparently Capello was seriously impressed with JT's bouncing back and mental strength in the wake of Moscow.
As far as i can tell, Capello didn't want to take the captaincy away from JT over the Wayne Bridge EX situation. Where he was at worst guilty of breaking the "Man Code".
Even in 2010, players like Rooney said publicly that they felt JT was still the Captain.
Whilst you can argue Cahill is doing a good enough job. Who do you want to be JT's long term replacement as the Captain of Chelsea Football Club?
Replacing him, go you think it's going to be extremely tough or near on effin impossible?
Is JT playing his last season at the club?

I think Cahill will be given the captaincy but will probably not be a regular starter so Luiz would be wearing the armband most of the time.
It's great when you have leaders at the back which we have in Cahill, Luiz and Courtois (and Terry still). It's one of the major things Arsenal have been lacking since the Invincibles.

Agree with what Obers said, club captain will go to Cahill but we'll probably see Luiz become the actual captain.

Cahill will probably be official club captain but he's likely to lose his first team place to Christensen next season, so more often than not Luiz will have the armband - Fabregas as 3rd captain.

Luiz and Costa look like the real leaders of our dressing room now, I'd say it'll be one of those two if Costa doesn't leave.

He'll be underrated by the bias of dislike despite still being rated, people who don't like him will allow the last few years to cloud their judgment. They'll give him a decent amount of credit to cover up the bias.
JT is one of the greatest CB's and captains of the modern era, a phenomenal player and a born winner.
I recall him playing as an England breakthrough player vs Turkey I think, England were absolute pants and should've been spanked but Terry played like two men that day.
Best CB of the PL era by some distance for me, way ahead of Carvalho (who I also think is massively underrated and one of the top 8 of the PL era), Rio, Vidic, Adams etc. He was that good, and about as natural leader on the pitch as you can get.
He'll go down as a top 5 Chelsea all time players for me. I can't actually believe how lucky we were to have him, Lamps and Drogba in the same side as they were all true greats. That before we even mention the likes of Cole, Carvalho, Makelele.....

Droog at one point we had about 10 international captains in our side, unreal, drogba, ballack, ivanovic, essien, terry, cech and a few others.
