Some "interesting" qualifiers...

So it is international week, with a schedule full of World Cup qualifiers.
Most people are a bit disillusioned by the whole need to break up the domestic season, but lets just roll with it.
There are some interesting stories across the world.

CONCACAF
The USA national team is the current big talking point, pointless from their opening 2 games. They face Honduras and Panama this week, with the danger of falling out of contention already.
Costa Rica, who smashed the US 4-0, head the group with Mexico and Panama in the other 2 automatic qualifying groups.

CONMEBOL
Brazil could continue their perfect qualification record for World Cups this week. Currently leading the group they face Uruguay and Paraguay.
Behind them and things are very tight. Uruguay sit second, but only 5 points separate them and Colombia in 6th. Top 4 qualify outright, with 5th going into an inter-continental play-off. Argentina currently occupy 5th, with Chile and Ecuador above them.
Chile go to Argentina this week in the pick of the games.

AFC
Over in Asia, and it is once again tight. Iran and South Korea currently lead Group A with 11 and 10 points respectively, but Uzbekistan are hot on their heels with 9 points. 2022 hosts Qatar are already all but out.
Group B is even tighter, with Saudi Arabia and Japan in the qualification places on 10 points. Australia - 9 points - are 3rd but level on points with United Arab Emirates
They all have 5 games remaining, so this weeks double headers should be interesting.

CAF
Still early in the final Group Stage, but with the draw we are looking at some notable African nations missing out. AFCON champions Cameroon currently trail Nigeria by 4 points after just two games. Algeria, impressive at the 2014 World Cup, are also in this group, but struggling with just 1 point.
Ghana have also started poorly, with 1 point from 2 games in Group D. The World Cup regulars will need a good week to close the gap on Egypt who looked strong in the recent AFCON tournament and qualification so far.
Cote d'Ivoire have started well in Group C, while Senegal remain in the hunt in Group D.

OFC
Looks like New Zealand will have no trouble here again.

UEFA
All pretty straight forward and boring tbh. Big games this week include Ireland v Wales, Croatia v Ukraine, Belgium v Greece and Montenegro v Poland.

OFC is the most ridiculous group of countries ever. Such an unfair advantage for New Zealand. Why are Australia not in this federation?

Lack of competition, and the fact they always had to play the South American 5th placed team to get to the World Cup.

We have to beat Montenegro on Sunday. Horrible place to go but that will put us in a very strong position to qualify as group winners.

Australia moved because it's easier to qualify from the Asia section. Finish in the top two and they go through, or third and they would probably fancy their chances of winning the Asia play-off rather than someone from South America for example.
