Following the Jansson situation last week, thought I'd share some thoughts on body language/attitudes from a hugely successful college basketball coach in States, Geno Auriemma
We don't know what Jansson's issue was and I'm not saying it was anything to do with this, but it is good insight into a highly successful coach's way with dealing with poor attitudes and lack of commitment to the team.

I think parents have to take a lot of the blame

Liw is 100% correct, the parents of a lot of these kids just see the trappings of success and push their kid towards that. Very few parents take the time to push kids towards building a legacy based on a professional spine.

Looking like you've not watched the video.
Mike, keen to understand your experience of parents and sporting kids, have you been involved in sports working with kids and parents?

My statement wasn't related to the video.
As for your question, yes, yes I have.

Ok, so there are 2 separate things here. One is about commitments to teams and attitude and how a successful coach looks for certain criteria.
The other is around parental influence (which i'm not disagreeing with) but keen to understand what your experience is in this area.
Parents are a massive influencer, not just in pushing their children but also in terms of the behaviours their kids demonstrate. The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree....is a very good saying. Also, I see more and more children today getting their own way at home and therefore questioning authority and getting upset when things dont go their way in sport.

Can't agree more on that last paragraph Jonty.
One is being married to a head teacher the other is on the Jr football level.
