Michael Keane

Looks to be doing really well at Burnley and now is getting England caps.

Was a bright young talent of ours once upon a time but we let him go - apparently with a sell on clause. Does anyone know if that's just extra money for us or do we have first option to buy back?

Anyway, he looks to have City and Liverpool interested. We need a CB this summer and have been linked with Lindelof and Van Dijk. Should we look closer to home and bring back one of our boys?

Prices being banded about at £20 million - a fair price for a very good PL defender. Anyone else think we should go for him?

Any half promising players like Keane in the reserves should get long term loans like Chelsea do rather than selling them for pittance.

I suggested buying him back when there was the gossip about Lindelhof, and was met with a deafening silence. So can only assume it's not a popular idea.
He knows the club, has bags of talent and would be half the price.

Wouldn't be against letting one of Jones or Smalling go and bringing in Keane

I would caution against this. He plays in a Burnley side that sit back and look to nick a goal at the other end. Doesn't mean he's not good enough, but it's easier to look like a good defender in a defensive set up that at a side that plays on the front foot

Season 2014 - 2015.

Michael Keane leaves for £3 million.

Marcus Rojo signs for £16 million.

If ever you needed a finer example of how poorly our club has been run in recent years, in terms of developing youth and not throwing money at everything, I don't think you'll find one.

We would need to also buy another defender that doesn't turn to shiiiit in away games.

This is a great example of a point I made in a previous post about giving home grown players a chance over taking a punt on an import.

Yep and if certain people get their way then this is what will happen to rashford too. Greizmann will come in, then it will be Greizmann and ibra at striker all season. Ibra leaves and a replacement is needed, rashford will end up leaving and go on to have a great career elsewhere.

It's not just united, a lot of clubs do it. We let Suso go who I always felt was the better of him and sterling. It's taken him a little time to settle and find his feet but he's playing very well for Milan this season. Clubs don't trust in their youth products anymore.
