Game on!!
It's probably a sad indicitment of the quality in our group that even after a disastrous start to our WC qualifying campaign we are now back in it with only our 2nd win in 5 games
I thought we were very good at times last night, we played some decent football for a change and looked a threat anytime we went forward.
Strachan threw in a surprise by playing young KT at right back and although he had a nervy first 15-20 minutes he grew in stature and looked excellent there and perhaps gives us an option now to play two of our outstanding full backs at the same time. He won every tackle, kept the ball well at times and showed terrific pace at times. He actually should have been in on goal but for Forrest misplacing an easy pass
However, there's only one winner when it comes to the MOTM. Our handsome, intelligent and wonderfully gifted footballer Stuart Armstrong. What a debut. Gordon Strachan got it spot on when he said it's as good a debut he's seen for Scotland in his lifetime. He had everything last night but what impressed me most was his ability to stay calm against a frankly embarrassingly hostile crowd. Long may his form continue.
Onto the crowd, it wasn't exactly full which is perhaps understandable but the guys who go to Scotland games regularly will know better than me. Why are we so impatient? It's been like this for a good few years now, we don't like to keep it simple and retain the ball for spells. We want it rushed and forward at any given opportunity Craig Gordon's distribution was excellent last night but the crowd weren't having it, any time he tried to calm it down there were groans.
Chris Martin received some boos when he came on as well, don't get me wrong, I didn't agree with the decision to bring him on but you don't boo when we are chasing a goal and dent the guy's confidence
Fingers crossed Griffiths injury isn't too serious, he played pretty well and although he missed an absolute sitter he was unlucky with another attempt and actually used the ball well for a change.
It gives us a decent chance now and as long as we take something from the game against England then we are right in the mix for 2nd place.
Strachan has deserved a lot of criticism threw his way in recent times but he deserves a lot of credit for last night. Whether it proves to be too little too late remains to be seen but he has at least given us a bit of hope going into the England game on June 10th.

we have won 1 of our last 5 games with a late goal.
how can anyone possibly think we would win 4 out of 5

I'm not a fan of international football at all and you are probably right Jfk but I actually enjoyed the game last night for the first time in ages. Maybe it was the fact there were so many Celtic players in the team

If we beat England we have a fantastic chance to lose in Lithuania and go out.

Beat England?. Keep dreaming. We might play our U12's and they will give you a game. Imagine having Griffiths leading your line up hahahahahaha
