I know there are a few articles going about now about how we should boycott Sky because of the paltry sum they give us.
Well BT is no better. In fact they have a far worse monopoly on football than Sky does. It was BT who complained about Sky for so long and now they are doing the same.
However what people fail to realise isn't that Sky or BT only value our game at such a low amount it is just that as a business they have taken advantage of us by basically saying we now control you. You can blame the powers that be in the SFA and SPFL for this by selling us cheap.
What Sky and BT are in effect doing is preventing a major competitor from deciding that they can't get into the English game so they will make a rival in Scotland and plough money into it.
Because we are tied to Sky and BT we cannot do it even if someone like ESPN decided to make the SPFL "the greatest league in the world" and market it to America and all the Scottish descendants there.
Compare it to what Chelsea do with buying all the young players around. They are preventing their rivals from improving them and then if the player does show good promise they can use them as they please or sell to a rival for big money.
Or even at Rangers with Sports Direct where they control selling the strips so no one can go out there and make money out of selling strips.
