Everton players

So twice Williams went for the player intended to hurt
him and then Barkley had three dangerous tackles yet both of them are still on the pitch playing. If we had another referee we would have seen red cards for both players.

Also Baines tackle on Mane. He won the ball but then went with his other foot to hurt Mane.

Disgusting team and referee.

Game is not over yet.

Shows the difference between the top 6 and the rest. Everton are still a long way behind. Can't see them holding on to Lukaku and Barkley either.

Barkley isn't that special. Everton is his level.

The ref set his stall out early on by not booking Clyne, and has been over-lenient ever since. Shocking attempt to "play the occassion" by a crap ref.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've spoke about this before but too often referees are deciding how they're going to referee the game before a ball is kicked. This can t happen. The decisions have to be judged on their own merit. To be fair I didn't think the Barkley one was a red until I saw the replay and he may have missed the excuse for a stamp but the toting up process should have applied to both Barkley and Williams. There was no intend on the part of Baines. It was just one of those things. Overall the referee had a good game in terms of getting decisions right but as you say, he referee the occasion instead of the individual challenges.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you watch it again you can see Barkley lean back to lessen the impact of the tackle, just as soon as he had seen Lovren had stretched for the ball.

It got the yellow it deserved.

Unlucky for Mane, he has had a brilliant season and hope he doesn't miss many games.

Can should have been shown nothing more than a yellow for his retaliation tackle attempt on Gana.

Williams and Can both slid in, both looking to take ball and or man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Can had made contact he'd have been off. He was still lucky he didn't get sent off as only the intent needs to be there but you can understand his frustration having been stamped on and then studed on his knee. I think Williams was frustrated as his defending was poor.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that Leighton Baynes did NOT foul Sadio. Baynes has in my view never been a dirty player. It was a case of two professionals, each going for the ball, their legs being tangled up in away that they couldn't have done even if they tried to resulting in Sadio gong down.

Call me the Prophet of Doom, but, I strongly suspect that's the last we will see of Sadio this season. I hope to God I am proved wrong.

Can did make contact, but Gana just rode the tackle and didn't go to ground rolling about.

Both Barkley and Williams shoupd count themsleves lucky to have got through 90 mins, both deserved red.

Good game and result for us overall. The only negative is Mane's injury. Baines wasn't to blame in any way. Hopefully he's not out too long, but I'm not hopeful. Thought we kept them at arms length for most of the match. Coutinho was class. Wij and Firmino a bit quiet. Lucas and Can were decent in MF.

At least one team came to play football

Why have you copied and pasted a link from an article into the comment section of a totally unrelated article? Would you like a debate on it spread over two articles?
