United announce Dallas Cup squad

"Manchester United have travelled to Texas with a 17-man squad for the Dallas Cup.

"Tommy Martin is taking charge of the Under-19 team with Reserves regulars Matthew Olosunde, Regan Poole, Callum Gribbin and Tosin Kehinde among those on the flight.

"DJ Buffonge and Indy Boonen sustained injuries in the Academy defeat at Chelsea last weekend while Angel Gomes picked up a knock in the final training session ahead of the trip to the United States.

"The Reds' tournament begins on Sunday with a game against Mexican side Chivas, with more Group A fixtures to come against Coritiba and Real Salt Lake."

United: Max Johnstone, Theo Richardson; Jake Kenyon, Lee O'Connor, Matthew Olosunde, Regan Poole, George Tanner, Tyrell Warren; Aidan Barlow, Ethan Hamilton, Callum Gribbin, Tosin Kehinde, Tom Sang, Callum Whelan; Joshua Bohui, Nishan Burkart, Zak Dearnley.

It's a shame Gomes, Buffonge and Boonen, arguably our three most potent attacking threats, are absent, but that's still a very strong squad, with some relatively experienced players included.

Tahith Chong also misses out having sustained what is apparently a pretty serious knee injury against Everton a few weeks back. Sounds like he is going to be out for the rest of the season, at least.

I can't see any evidence of the games being aired live on MUTV, but I'm sure they'll be broadcast in the States, so streams will pop up. The full schedule for the U19 competition is available on the Dallas Cup website for those who are interested.

Nishan Burkart

One to look out for apparently

Can’t see him being a big name player if they ban the burka. Nishan rt just doesn’t have the same appeal.

Not sure whether to take any of these comments remotely seriously

However, in the unlikely event that anyone is actually interested, DJ Buffonge (or the possibly even better Darren Raekwon McIntosh-Buffonge to give him his full mouthful of a title) is a technically-gifted, creative and very quick lad, who plays primarily in advanced midfield roles, but can play just about anywhere on the pitch.

Looks an exciting prospect. As usual, we are working with lots of very exciting looking attacking midfielders and wingers at the moment: Gribbin, Gomes, Buffonge, Chong, Boonen. All of them have the potential to make the grade.
