So, is this the end...

of our Champions League dream?

Or can we somehow find a way to do what very few teams have done in the last few years and score at least 3 past Athletico? I say 3 because I just cannot see any way Madrid will not score at least one.

I was lucky enough to be over in Madrid for the away leg (sitting amongst the Madrid fans, couldn't get a ticket for the city end) and was very impressed with their quality and tactical awareness.

We can all dream, and I will continue to do so, but realistically I think Madrid will be too robust for us tomorrow. I think we will attack with more fervour and belief than in the away leg and could then get punished on the break.

Prediction: City 0 Madrid 2 (0-3 on aggregate).

What do you think?

(P.S. As others have said elsewhere, I also hope we get a fair referring performance. Not referring to the away leg with this statement but to that abysmal bloke who denied us 3 pens and sent off Garry Parker for taking a free kick too quickly back in 97. MON all but called him a cheat in the post match conference and instead of getting punished by UEFA, it was the ref who was taken to task and never refereed again. More than fishy)

Or one of our players does not foul a player in a position that give the ref the issue to make a decision. Taggart had no complaints we need to take some responsibility for our own face and not blame the ref for us not scoring an away goal or creating chances which really cost us the game.

Take responsibility? Yeah he should have come inside to close the space rather than going to the ball but he still committed the foul outside the box and the ref had a perfect view.

It's about time refs took some responsibility but until then sticking by the rules of committing fouls outside the box shouldn't lead to dodgy penalties.

Albrighton admitted he was past him so he brought him down and the fact it was just ouside but the ref said he saw chalk dust.
so lets not blame the ref if we have technology then its different till then its down to split second judgement and players not making stupid tackles.

I'm unsure why Albrighton making a mistake and the ref making a mistake have to be exclusive opinions from each other?

I think the most disappointing thing about the decision was that it was obvious what Albrighton was doing: Deliberately bringing Griezmann down and picking up a yellow card before he got into the area. Seeing chalk dust is a daft excuse because Albrighton himself would have kicked some up on his way there.

Anyway, I disagree with Thorney - I don't want a fair ref, I want a completely and totally biased one who gives us everything and leaves Simeone spitting feathers on the touchline as his side goes out of the competition courtesy of three atrocious penalty decisions and a red card for mistaken identity. Given our history with Atletico, I think we're due.

Maybe an Atletico player will take a throw-in far too slapdash for the referee's liking and get a second yellow

Yeah I'm with you Dunge, it's about time they tasted some misjustice

Haha, it would be funny but would never happen, we're the outsiders to be put in our place.

Thought Simeone and one or two players were a disgrace , brandishing imaginary cards at ref. That should be a booking in itself.
Cant stick Simeone, wish Beckham and kicked him harder!!

I quite liked that, thorney. It shows they're scared of what Vardy can do and wanted him suspended.

I agree, let's hope Jamie shows them exactly why they were right to be scared tonight while I also expect Simeone to get lots of verbal tonight from the home fans, let's see how he likes it.
