What now for Josh Onomah? #UPDATE#

##UPDATE ##

Josh Onomah is currently earning rave reviews for England at the U20 World Cup, playing in his preferred central midfield position.

The link shows a montage of his touches against the hosts South Korea. He looks a different player to the one we have had fleeting glimpses of

The lad Onomah burst on the scene last season, getting little cameos here and there - including coming on at 1-1 at the Emirates - got plenty of Europa time and looked to be a favourite of Poch.

EL minutes....278......2 starts, 5 sub

Fast forward a year and he has been largely ignored in the main competitions, and has seen Harry Winks leapfrog him and become Poch's project.

So what now for the boy?

From all sources involved at Youth level this lad is an absolute monster. A box to box central midfield player who has shone at every level he has played at.

Is this the problem? We have not seen him play there, in the Dembele role. He has been used in the 3 of the 4231 and not looked particularly effective.

Is it a physical thing? He looks gangly to me, not filled his frame and has the look of a baby giraffe. Too weak to be trusted in the hustle of centre mid.

In context, Onomah is at the age now that Dele Alli was in the Spring of last year. The difference between them is striking on the face of it. Man against boy

Alli has the benefit of playing 2 years of senior football in the lower division of course, an experience not afforded to Onomah - Poch will not send his promising youngsters out.

There is a hole in the squad for an attack-minded central midfielder who can break with the ball, but the lad seems miles away from filling that right now

What about successful loan spells to Rose and Walker?

I was laughed off this board when I wrote an article at the start of the season stating that Spurs would comfortably finish top four this season.

I believed we had players and a coach as good as if not better than what the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool were bringing in.

Your like a pack of wolves all ganging up.

I really hope I'm proved right again.

You are the one who got the bee in your bonnet about criticising Poch to be fair Dont Cry

You are talking to people who think he needs a loan - of course we are going to be broadly agreeing with eachother.

For every good player that has gone straight in to the first team at a top club, there is one who benefitted from a loan spell first. All it shows is there is not a one-size-fits-all policy. Some are better without some are better with.

We happen to agree a player who only got 26 minutes of PL and European football last year, has not particularly impressed in his starts in the minor cups, and whose favourite position of CM is probably the most physically demanding positions on the pitch, is one of those players a loan would benefit.

Plenty of top players have talked of a loan spell as character building. Lampard at Swansea. Rio and Defoe at Bournemouth. Beckham at Preston.

I'll have to stop posting on here. I'm probably too long in the tooth and passionate about my views.

That's unnecessary, end of the day we are all fans of the same team and all have our views.

It's all a debate and discussion and just need to keep to it.

( I know you love a thumbs up )

If that's how he feels then that's up to him.

Nobody denied or doubted what Poch said about Onomah getting minutes... yet when faced with quotes from Kane about his loan spell he wants to dismiss it and instead consider what Kane *might* say now...

He then wants to brag about being correct.., then get uptight when it's highlighted that he was wrong on something...

It's a forum but it seems that disagreeing with him upsets him so

Theres no need to leave bud, I dont think any of us have an issue with your opinion we just don't agree with it. Point of these debating forums and all that. You think Onomah is best left at the club, the 4 of us think its best he is going to go on loan. I'm sure if other contributors, like GG, were around they would agree with you.

I need to apologise guys.

First and foremost I can perhaps be overly passionate with my views at the best of times but I'm not in the greatest place at the moment.
Due to health problems I'm unemployed at the moment, got no money, having marital problems and I'm downright depressed.

Spurs is my sanctuary at the moment and coming on here is my escapism.
I was trying to pick a fight today and that was wrong.
Personal attacks isn't usually my nature.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I didn't respect that.

My apologies.

You don't have to apologise fella, this is a forum for us to talk about football - I imagine lots use it as a bit of a ranty outlet.

At the end of the day it is a discussion about Josh Onomah. It is not exactly one of the world's most pressing issues.

Whether he is loaned or not loaned, Spurs are still doing well so we can all enjoy it
