a last thought

starting to come down a little bit now from the champions league buzz,

but the next stage is obviously a Europa league place
but will it have the same buzz,

currently as an outsider to this competition and watching other english clubs take part over the last few years,
that they seem a little half hearted about the competition,

is this because they failed to get into the champions league or got knocked out of the champions league in 3rd spot ? that the competition is below them? and see this competition like we see the league cup,not really important until you get to the quarter finals.

I'm thinking more about having a go at getting the FA cup monkey off our backs next season.

Hopefully we'll have a good manager and bring in some quality, with no European matches we may get towards safety early enough to be able to play a strong side in the cup.

Here's dreaming again!

The europa league might not be a big draw to the giants of the game, but for a club like ours we'd have a great adventure.

That is our owners aim and I think it's realistic one.

I agree that we should have a good go at the FA Cup. Adding the final domestic trophy to our collection would be incredible.

The CL run might be over, but you can be well proud of your lads. They gave it their all and you have every right to feel they are champions in your hearts.

Failure isn't in defeat, it's in not trying.

I would apply the same principle to any competition or game you ever enter.

We (Madrid) won consecutive UEFA Cups back in the 1980s, and they felt every bit as good as any of our European Cup wins.

Whenever we do qualify for the Europa League, no matter what route has taken us there, I would hope every last man who takes the pitch for us is ready to give everything he has in him for us to lift the cup.

Nothing less will do.

Europa League would be a great achievement and I for one would relish more nights at the KP like we've just had this season.

And it didn't do Atletico any harm when they had a few runs in the Europa League and progressed onto the Champions League, so there's no reason why we can't try to mirror how they have built themselves up and progressed as a European team over time.
