Klopp Blaming Injuries

I heard on the radio this morning that Klopp has blamed injuries for Liverpool not being able to challenge for the title this season.

Now, I love Klopp and what he is doing, and we've had our fair share of injuries this season, but lets be honest,

Signing Mane and knowing he would be missing a chunk of January and not having a plan B to replace him was madness.

A lot of the injuries that IMO de-railed our title push happened during the January transfer window. The owners said we had money to spend in January, Klopp must have an idea of who he want in this summer, so why not pay the extra 5-10 million for two new players to get them in Jan if we could have kicked on and challenged?

If Klopp truly believes that injuries wrecked our title challenge and he refused to spend available money to bring in new players, serious questions need to be asked of the guy. Failure to spend money when you've a real chance to compete for silverware smacks of 'Wenger-ism' to me!

Thoughts?

Every top 6 side has had its injury problems. It's part of football. Chelsea have been most fortunate but have still had injuries themselves.

Not an excuse

he wasn't using it as an excuse. What he said was that we would of made a better challenge if we didn't have so many injuries to key players. As i said above we have only had 3 out of our first team players not injured this season and 3 of our main players out for prolonged periods of time.

So far it's been injuries and no winter break.

Liverpool do not currently have the squad strength for injuries to not affect them.

Chelsea have missed virtually nobody this season, and have beneffited immensely.

Liverpool are a year behind Spurs currently, in terms of development. A year back we had a good XI but struggled with a few out but still got a good tally, as Liverpool are on course to.

I think Liverpool fans should be happy with their progress this season, and prepare to have a proper go next year

Regarding January - Klopp said we looked at buying players but the clubs were not selling. Why buy players you don't want just for the sake of it. I am happy he chose our youth instead of buying rubbish for over inflated money.

That's a typical lazy manager excuse.

In January, I'm not so sure it is. For the type of player that we want, most will already be at clubs in and around our position. Which clubs would want to sell their better players in January.

South American clubs

Any season is full of ifs and maybes, but Liverpool would have needed a big improvement to have a title chance this season - Chelsea have had monster spells and will get a huge total, even if they do not win it.

As it stands Liverpool are favourites for a top 4 place, on course for 3rd, and have an outside chance of 2nd.

It has been a pretty good season, the team has evolved and in my opinion will be up there next season having a title challenge

If you look at the season as a whole then January did cost us but the fact is we were a bit off the pace even then and we I think would have needed 3 or 4 players more to really compete not just a couple.

Also the reality is we dug in in last two games but in january the players available did not. I don't know why but they looked rocked then. Mingolet has won us 4 points with big saves in last two games for example... if we have learned to man up great.

Which is a risk in itself. Very few prem clubs buy directly from South America and the ratio of those that come to Europe and being successful is low. There is also the work permit issues to get around.

Greatteams, I was just answering the question "Which clubs would want to sell their better players in January?

It isn't really a question of availability of players or willingness to sell on the buying club's part though, the issues are other.
