Rangers in Europe

Having watched yesterdays game, I have strong reservations about next season, If as I fear there is no great movement in the transfer market (due to lack of cash, although I have no evidence to back up that up).

I'm concerned that this squad of players could end up as an embarrassment to our football club.

I saw no real heart for the task before them yesterday (not for the first time this season) and I am flummoxed by what the manager is trying to achieve (I'm not calling for sacking or such like) I'm just genuinely confused

18 months ago teams, including Celtic in the previous semi final struggled to get possession of the football, yesterday we struggled to pass it five yards with the recipient unable (at times) to control the ball.

Aberdeen ran us ragged, we escaped with a 3-0 victory, but that was no tactical master class by the manager, Aberdeen imploded

Any thoughts guys?

You are all falling into the trap of constantly underestimating how Pedro is going to turn things around during the close season.

We're on our way up to the summit baby, 55 is coming home baby,. Yeah baby....

Watch this space.

Imagine this scenario -. Celtic have peaked this season and some clubs come in at the end of the season and cherry pick Celtics top players.

Brendan splashes out to replace them, but the team does not quite gel. Add to this, Celtic get injuries to key players during next season. Team gets found out in Europe, loses some confidence.

Meanwhile, rangers are stronger, and probably will not have the burden of Europe midweek games.

Pedro manages to produce a half decent team and gets a decent run of wins going etc, wins the first old firm game at Ibrox.

Suddenly momentum shifts.

To be fair, that ain't too far fetched in all honesty.

Here is the icing on the cake. A top English premier club comes in and offers Brendan the job. Arsenal for instance. Brendan gets an offer he can't refuse and leaves.

Scott brown gets injured. He ain't getting any younger.

Mmmm, how is that 10 in a row looking now when Celtic appoint Lambert as the new Celtic manager....

Sleep well Bhoys, it's all downhill from here.

We won the semi final last year and look what happened to us. It's the kiss of death winning the Scottish cup semi final, honestly, i tell thee!

Agreed. I'll have whatever he's on. As much as I hope you're right, Richard Ashcroft called this 20 years ago. The drugs don't work.

Just need to login now with a few of my fake Celtic accounts, (can't use jinky anymore, been rumbled), and give credit where due, that these are pretty valid concerns highlighed above, highly likely on balance to probably come true, and best prepare for the worst next season.

It's inevitable Rangers are on their way back to the summit, having to wait another season makes it all the sweeter for us.

Last post this evening from me. Here are some facts to backup my Nostradamus predictions.

1/ no one saw Leicester city go from relegation battle to champions last year. My point here - no matter the gulf between teams during 1 season, the following season can be so different. It does not require a large financial outlay to change rangers finishing 3rd to finishing 1st. It requires a manager that can get the best out of whatever squad and system he has next season.

2/ in 1985 - 86 , no one thought rangers could turn things around in one season, but they did with a few key signings.

3/ a decade later , Martin O'Neil also turned the momentum around. I understand there was more money involved then, but i don't think with the level Scottish football is at right now, that Celtic are that far ahead. They are ahead agreed, but not a gap that is unbridgeable. Especially if injuries occur to Celtic key players.

4/ Celtic could easily not reach the heights they have this year. Rangers have to improve, let's be serious, it won't be hard for our team and squad to perform better than this year. We can only go forward from here.

5/. Teams don't do trebles year after year. Football even in Scotland is not that predictable. I am hoping the league is more competitive next year with hibs and maybe Dundee united back.

Gersfan, I rather enjoy your predictions. It means the exact opposite will happen so it's greatly appreciated
