Celtic Invincibles

I don't get it.

To be honest, I thought we already became the invincibles. We won the title without losing a single game.

Surely by definition that makes us the invincibles?

I have never really cared about this record myself, it's all about trophies this year and getting ready for next year as far as I am concerned. But I figured when guys were talking about winning the league unbeaten that they meant being unbeaten up to the point we were mathematically champions. Now folk are going on about going the entire season (after that folk will no doubt be obsessed with going the calendar year). I don't see why results in 5 dead rubbers at the end of the season would have any bearing on our legacy for this year.

Does this "entire season unbeaten" mean anything to you guys?

If so, then why is that the achievement? Why is winning the league unbeaten (as we have already done) not the achievement?

The unbeaten record is grinding my gears now, was enjoying it but now see players who could have done with more rest looking a baw hair "leggy" during games, would have preffered, personally speaking, to have given nore time to Henderson, Eboue, etc, even giving youngers like Aitchison game time

Going a whole season undefeated domestically might be nice to look back at but for me at least it has become a bit of a weight on our backs

It's not often you get the chance to give young players a proper go at teams fighting for position. I'd be happy enough to give them the next three games. We won the league unbeaten. Done and dusted. Doesn't give much hope to the kids when they can't even get a game in five dead rubbers.

To me, "invincibles" implies unbeaten for the season.
You can hardly claim you're invincible if a quick look at the league table shows otherwise. Pedantic, yes, but easier than arguing "aye, but we were unbeaten, till we lost".

We are the invincibles. The games after dont count as the league is already won.

Timmy, a few years from now, if you look at the league table for this season and we haven't lost a game, then we can claim we are invincible.
As I said, it is pedantic, but if after 38 games we have lost one, it makes no difference whether it was the last game or the first. Yes we have already won the league so the final five games are irrelevant, so to speak, but to be truly "invincible" we must win all the games.

Unless the argument is that we were invincible until we got beat.

Being honest, it's a wonderful position to be in.
