Disgraceful

I've been a defender of our players. Not blaming tiredness for that.

It's like we show up at home games just expecting to win.
Where was the intensity we saw against Chelsea? If we played like in half the home games we've drawn we'd at least close to the top 2.

Some of the performances today were pathetic especially from the attackers.

And Rooney. What can I say. You've been a great player but your time at the top is well and truly up. Missed a sitter to finish the game off and that free kick.

It's inexcusable that a 31 year old with over 600 games gives away that free kick.

Can't agree with you. Whether he is an international is neither he nor there. They are both Manchester United players, Jose's job is to pick the right player for the purpose, not because he owes something to one or the other.
Whether he made the best choice is impossible to say as obviously we can't compare.

Sorry Lambeau, typed before I read your comment

this is true...and i don't watch united's reserves, so will gladly admit that rosso's/others' knowledge of the kids' talents are miles ahead of mine.

what slightly irks is that some posters on here - and i don't mean you or rosso fyi - will automatically assume that it wasn't the best choice...mainly because jose made it (!)

Robb, who suggests youth should be played for the sake of it.?
For myself I would like to to see make scouting and development a priority. To play two or three youth players in the league cup, and for the really exceptional ones, give them their debut when appropriate. Be it league or cup.

And I'm sure next season that will happen.

Rosso,

With all due respect mate, you've seen Tuanzebe put in more accomplished performances against kids than Darmian has against experience Premier League standard players. It's an impossible comparison because since the death of a genuine reserve league the level that our kids are blooded at prior to the first team is shocking.

Tuanzebe might be more talented than Darmian, but right now he's not nearly as good as him.

I can see the sense in Mourinho's decision today.

I can't see how you can say with certainty that Darmian is a better centreback than Tuanzebe.

As can I; I can understand the argument. It just doesn't agree with me.

I'd rather see him both put more faith in the youngsters, and take more risks. A large part of the reason people wanted rid of the poor old Dutchman was his safety-first, pragmatic and predictable approach.

I'd like to see a bit more of the old United spirit: pace, width, determination, the commitment of players to attacks, and faith in our Academy products,

For me the question is not whether the youngsters are better than the senior players, it is surely more about whether the youngsters - when fit and fresh - can do a job at Old Trafford when the senior players are "too tired" to perform.

If they aren't, then what is the point in having them...only to end up dropping points and then blaming fatigue for another dire performance?

There were also a number of games earlier in the season when the points were already in the bag and yet Jose still did not bring off senior players even then. If he had brought on a few youngsters in those games then maybe the senior players wouldn't be quite so tired now?

I remember Jose saying at the start of the season that he couldn't wait for the league cup and Europa to start so that he could give games to his squad players. Now he is saying that his players can't perform because they have played too many games. That makes no sense to me.

Any which way you look at it, he has not managed the squad well this season.
