I get debates like this on the Sun Sport page or similar. On a dedicated football board, it's slightly worrying.

I think Pep is an amazing manager, and I am a big neutral fan of him, but he has disappointed.

And i think its a fair question to ask, who is the better manager based on the PL table. If Pep is so good as he is expected to be, he should have done better with a squad like City. Klopp achieved the same result, so far, with less resources and lesser players.

I think he absolutely could have done better, but it would have been at the detriment to the longer term view. He isn't a pragmatist and we didn't hire him to get instantaneous results. At the same time, there's more than enough evidence this season of progress and sheer bad luck at times have been part of the reason we aren't at least comfortably in second. That and the squad building has been appalling for a few years.

There does seem to be this recent thing of everything being down to the manager though. Ultimately, it is the players that always make the difference and Klopp and Guardiola currently don't have the players they need to get the most out of the way they like their teams to play.

I agree things haven't always gone your way. A bit like us in a way.

Whenever I've seen teams like Liverpool and Arsenal drop points they have deserved to on the balance of play whereas us and City have left numerous points after us.
