The biggest fight in boxing has been confirmed for September 16 as middleweight king Gennady Golovkin takes on the PPV giant Canelo Alvarez. Following Canelo's one sided domination of Chavez Jr, an announcement was made regarding the Golovkin fight and as the man himself entered the ring, both men confirmed that they would dance on September 16 2017.
It's a relief because it seemed like these two were never destined to meet but the fans have yet again been presented with a mouth watering match up in 2017. The two giants go head to head in a fight that could go down as one for the ages.
Thoughts????
Canelo vs Golovkin Is Official!!!!!

Some face to face photos of Canelo and GGG albeit wearing suits:

Canelo definitely has the thicker build and GGG has the height advantage although that's not really saying anything new.

Had this fight been made 12-18 months ago I'd have favoured GGG heavily.
It's closer to 50/50 now, especially with Canelo looking very comfortable at the weight.
That said, his choice of opponent lately hasn't been up to much.. Chavez Jr looked so gaunt at the weigh in that you just knew he'd have nothing in him during the fight.
Still fancy GGG by KO but it should be a great fight.

After that Jacobs fight I'm not sure I fancy Golovkin to ko Canelo in this fight. Think it will go to the cards which will be interesting. Just hope we get a good decision although if it's a controversial one then at least we'll get a rematch as I'd love to see these two fight a couple of times.

348 amateur fights doesn't effect a boxer in his latter years? The amateurs are gruelling and tough and he has been going through training camps after training camps before he even became a professional.

a lot of 3-4 rd fights yes, but through the years people have been saying that's actually been a plus for ggg because he honed his skills so much in the amateurs but now all of a sudden its a disadvantage? like I said ggg has not been in all out wars(due to him being so dominant) so his age won't play into this at all just like mayweathers didn't against canelo

Who's making excuses? Fact is GGG is 10 years older than him and he's last two fights have not been impressive and still think Brook would of knocked him out. Luckily Canelo is pretty over hyped anyway, still fancy GGG to knock him out, should be a great fight
----------------------------------------------------------------------
not a hope Brook would have Ko'd GG, Brook landed some nice shots cause he's a good boxer but never once troubled him.
Fight should never have happened anyway, Brook was brave to take it and came out with credit, but sorry to even suggest Brook came close to hurting GGG is a farce that was perpetuated by the Brittish Boxing media and fans.

this fallacy about brook given ggg trouble for what, 2mins of 1 rd in a 5 rd fight is ridiculous

Have five stars
Why are so few getting really excited about this fight? I can understand as most casuals probably barely know who either GGG or Canelo even are. But within the boxing community I'd expect more talk and excitement for what could and probably should be the fight of the decade.

Probably coz it's still months away, and a day in boxing can be a long time
Anything could happen between now and then unfortunately
