Conte being chased by Barca

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/801245/Chelsea-Exclusive-Barcelona-Antonio-Conte-Luis-Enrique-Premier-League-Transfer-News-Gossip

Guess this was inevitable....he's hot property - as is Hazard

We may well see a ridiculous fee offered (for both) in summer

Think they wanted to groom Xavi like they have other ex players. Looks like he turned it down though

Xavi wants to become a coach eventually, I believe.

Xabi Alonso is probably the one of the big Spanish players that could potentially do well. I've read he's a keen student of the game and had regular interactions with his coaches on learning the tactical side of things. Looking at some of the coaches he's worked with it bodes well if these things can be translated through his own methods.

Reading the reports it seems like Xavi thought he still had a few years playing in him and went off for some extra money

My main worry with Conte is homesickness and whether he'll want to go back to Italy actually. That's the most likely way he'll leave I think.

I have great respect for Conte but he's not a Barça manager. I like Chelsea's style of football but Barça are not counter attack and I don't think an Italian manager can play the type of game we do.

I dunno I think Spalletti, Di Francesco, Sarri and Montella could. They're very possession based coahes and described as more Spanish than Italian coaches in Italy - albeit Montella's adpoted a more pragmatic appraoch to his style of play since moving to Milan.

I think they are all "pragmatic" coaches and in my opinion would be better for us as we are too one-dimensional at times. We need the option of going back to front sometimes. We also need quality in defence and midfield.

Sarri and Spalletti certainly aren't. They play high risk possession based football generally.

I agree with your last point, though. Barca's defence and midfield really needs improving.

Not a chance. Even with his ties to Espanyol, they'll be chasing Pochettino (who I'd imagine is quite far down the shortlist as it is) before even thinking about Conte.

Conte won't be the hottest managerial property this summer, Allegri is ahead of him right now by some distance. Monaco might have a hard time holding onto Jardim too.
