If clubs are not motivated by winning the FA cup then something is wrong with football.

Don't turn it into a circus of CL qualification.

I've been fortunate enough to see us lift the FA Cup a total of 7 times in my 20-something years as an Arsenal fan.

The fact that a significant chunk of these campaigns have been used to blood new talent, makes it that much sweeter.

It's always good to see our well-documented cynical streak put aside when it comes to the FA Cup.

I would rather win the FA cup for winning it, than winning it because it offers CL football.

Arsenal have always made an effort to balance league and cup runs.

Stupid idea.

You already qualify for the Europa League and winning that gives you guaranteed qualification to the CL.

Just get teams to finally take the EL seriously!

It's all relative. I'm sure if there was a CL place up for grabs as well as the trophy then City would've beat Wigan and Portsmouth wouldn't of won the cup.

Not really. We were the best team in Europe that season and were eyeing a treble and still lost to Pompey. Other than us, Pompey and Cardiff didn't have to play anyone of note to get to the final that year.

Awarding a CL place to the winner of the FA Cup is a terrivle idea. Six games to win it. I don't think winning six games merits a CL place, especially when they aren't all against premier league sides.

It'd add spice to the FA Cup, for sure. But could make a mockery of the CL.

Uefa won't allow it anyway so it's not gonna happen, luckily.

It should also be noted that, bar the oddities of Portsmouth, Wigan and Man Utd, the FA Cup winners this century are teams that qualify for the CL through their league position anyway.

Imagine if the top 4 then took the FA Cup "seriously"

it is illogical TBH.

the issue is the weakness of europa... or at least the silly amount of games in it.

It has two games more than the CL. It's hardly a silly amount.

Fully agree.

The issues people have with the Europa tend to be:

1 - Thursday nights

2 - Loads of Eastern European/Asian teams in it.

3 - CL drop-outs joining after the group stages.

Then maybe stopping the 3rd place CL team dropping in would help
