Match vs Utd

This Sunday see's us play our final match vs the most decorated club in English football.

With it being likely there is nothing to play for hopefully it will be a cracking game were both teams go out to attack from the off; but in reality this wont be the case.

A well-drilled Spurs unit will be looking to attack from the off, but unfortunately Mourinho's United is a way off from the 'team to be' that they were under Sir Alex Ferguson.

In that area, personally I quite liked Utd. You had to respect how they kept winning whilst keeping a good core of English players and on the whole playing exciting football. They were also the team that kept winning trophies in-front of Arsenal or Chelsea, the enemy of my enemy and all that.

Then after a bad appointment in Moyes, and a mediocre one in LVG, Utd needed to get it right to ensure their dominance. They chose the easy option, in the one once known as the 'Special one' for a desperate quick fix, rather than signing a long term project to re-implement the 'Utd way'.

After spending a fortune greater than the wealth of some nations, they acquired the best player from the Serie A, Budesliga and Ligue 1. Along with purchasing one of the brightest young talents in La Liga. Often quoted as the most expensive team in Premier League history, if not wholly accurate it is certainly up there.

After a dismal Premier League campaign, where one of the title favourites are out of the top 4 running with 3 games to go; their woeful home form and poor performances have got a lot of the more intelligent Manchester United fans questioning the manager. If their desperately turgid EL run doesn't pay off then the season ends in a total flop.

Based on seasons performances, this Sunday should be an absolute breeze. With our exceptional home form, and their non-existent away form vs the top 6 the statistics point heavily in our favour.

Lets hope that the team can go out in style and end the season, and the WHL on one last memorable note.

My team for the weekend:

Lloris
Walker Dier Toby Jan Rose (if not fit Davies)
Dembele Wanyama
Dele Eriksen
Kane

growing up in the sticks, a young boy had their free pick of teams to support. I went for Spurs probably fueled by their early 80s success, while my brothers went for Utd, albeit it at a time when they were really in the duldrums.

So i have watched a lot of Utd over the years and really enjoyed their development under Fergie. The early successful years were the most enjoyable as they played fast attacking football with flying wingers, Cantona was also an amazing player to watch. The latter Fergie years became a bit more tedious as he became more of a God like figure and Spurs never seemed to get the luck against them. Always foiled by one of their best signings, Howard Webb. But even during that time you had to respect how Fergie kept that winning mentality going, how the team was never in transition but just evolved seamlessly without any major dips in form...they took English football to the Europeans and put us back on that map.

What was striking was that after Fergie left, Jose was a free man, but was overlooked. Even though Fergie & Jose had a good relationship, and Jose had been hugely successful they (including Fergie who would have been instrumental in any appointment) stayed away from Jose. 2 flops later and they call for Jose. It is desperate and since Fergie left their identity has been eroded. Still a massive club on a global scale but lacking that fear factor, lacking that British core and only relying on youth when all else fails. Massive sums spent in the transfer window and football which even the most hardened of fans find tiresome.

They certainly aint the team i enjoyed watching as a neutral when I was growing up and you kinda wonder whether football has moved on from the Jose-way. They'll be in the mix next season probably but theyll probably spend another £150m to achieve it.

Beating them on Sunday would be an amazing send off to WHL, even if they are not quite the team they used to be.

Josie was begging for the job. Sucking up whenever he could to get the job he wanted - until Sir Bobby Charlton told him to fack off because they don't want his 'pontificating' and behaviour, so he took the Chelsea job.

Eventually united came calling; both as desperate as each other

Mediocre LVG won more points then Pochettino and had a better h2h while they managed in those 2 seasons.

Its so strange if you compare our stats this season to our 2012/13 side, this 2016/17 Man Utd side are streets ahead of the 2012/13 side in defensive work and creation and shots except a lot worse in efficiency.

Man Utd would have won the league if we didn't have stupid players. I think even Mourinho never managed a side play so many one sided games and not win so consistently as this Man Utd team.

Mourinho suprised me but only recently we dropped off which is understandable due to injuries and fatigue and EL is more important. I didn't expect us to be so dominant in so many matches. The one thing Mourinho has fixed is we can create lots of chances quickly back to the SAF days.

I would love to have us play against a manchester united which was under Ferguson, it would have been some good end to end attacking football. However we will be playing against Mourinho who will probably park the bus and concentrate on the Europa League for a CL spot.

We might get battered but at least it would be a good game and a good final send off for WHL.
