I was at JT's debut match back in 98.....

What stands out most about the night was Wisey getting a red card for a 2 footer, when we were 4-1 up in almost the 90th minute

But that memory aside, what does it say about the club that JT is our last graduate (so to speak) that has made it at the club? When you consider that It’ll be 19 years in October.

Is it a failure on our behalf?

Or does it show the level of expectation that Managers haven’t really felt safe to give the youth a run?

We can’t just blame Jose here. No Manager since Roman took over has really given the ‘kids’ a chance.

I think it’s actually a mixture of both.

Anyone remember Batesy’s comments about the 82/83 season?

“The plan was to get safe by Easter and then give the kids a run……..but our lot were so bad, they couldn’t get us safe by Easter, so we just had to hang on in there".

Meaning John Neal felt he could not afford to take the risk.

That season IMO saved Chelsea FC from going extinct. Nowadays although a different type, I genuinely believe there has been too great a pressure to succeed at our club to give the kids the run we as fans would like to see happen.

For me last season, was the first time under Roman and possibly the last for a while, where the club effectively had a risk free opportunity to give the younger/fringe players a run of games. That for me was a missed opportunity.

Yeah it's the phone.

Tell me do you really think JT is a racist? I mean look at his friends , I have met racists and experienced racism have razor blade scar to prove it, mostly when I was a kid and they are obvious to spot but he had worked with enough ethnic groups throughout his career and played with enough that if what happened with Anyone was as depicted then I find it hard to believe allegations were not made earlier or that no other players came forward with evidence of prior occasions where he has behaved like that.

As for the bridge situation quite apart from the fact that the allegations were strongly denied, if they were true it was an ex girlfriend of an ex teammate. I met Bridge prior to the episode, with SWP and Sidwell on a charity motorbike ride, Bridge was with Imogen Thomas (big brother) do he seemed to be over his ex even then.

I've no idea whether Terry is racist but it appears that he did say racist words to Ferdinand and did have some sort of dodgy liaison with a team mate's bird which is out of order. Whether Bridge was whiter than white is immaterial.

You appear to want to either brush over what he did as not that bad or are suggesting they didn't happen at all. That's fair enough and perhaps you are right but my point is that whether these 'accusations' affect Chelsea fans' view of whether Terry will ever be regarded as real legend or just a great player.

I don't think JT is a racist.

I've been fortunate to not be on the receiving end of racism.

I've been on the end of 'nationalism' (think that's the term) where i got a lot of $hite for being English and living in Scotland.

One guy in particular liked to blame me for everything that happened to Scotland at the hands of England from the times of William Wallace right through to Maggie Test Driving the Poll Tax in Scotland 1st.

I didn't actually mind the bullying. He didn't like English people that was his right. He logic was questionable considering his own Grandfather fought in Rommel's Panzers.

Oh and I don't write off Giggs either for shsgging his brothers wife, not something to shout about but sadly marriage and relationships don't seem to last like they used to.

Giggs is the perfect example actually of a great player but a poor individual. In fact what Giggs did was far worse than the Terry/Bridge incident as it was his feckin' brother. Lowlife in my view

Looking at the bigger picture I also think that it is unlikely that Terry is a racist as I don't believe that you could lead a dressing room full of different races without that sort of thing coming out eventually. I've read that he was great mates with Drogba for example.

I'm just saying that he has done some pretty poor things in his life so thought this might blur his legendary status somewhat.

I only think of JT as a Chelsea player Gin in terms to judging him as a Chelsea Legend.

I would buy a tell all autobiography, i really would. I'd also like to read a tell all Jose autobiography.

Unfortunately i don't think the chance will ever crop up with either.

Fair enough mate and thanks for not turning this into a WUM thing as that wasn't my intention.

Terry was a great player - no doubt. In my view not a great bloke though but then watching him play has never been pleasurable to me as it's usually been at the expense of my team.

Don't get me started on Jose though!!!!!

I don't brush anything over, do me one favour, go back and read up on the Bridge item if nothing else and then tell me if she was a girlfriend or an ex and if they were team mates or not.

If there was an affair then it was clearly wrong but it never involved a team mate or his girlfriend. Bridge was sold by then and he was not with the girl yet you still refer to it as if they were. I'm not singling you out, most people do exacly the same, describing it as they see it rather than how it was reported.

Alright I might just do that. Anyway, my dislike of Terry might stem from him taking my ex out a couple of times back in the day (true story). I wasn't with her at the time though

From what i can tell JT (at worst) only guilty of breaking the 'guy code' with Bridge's ex.
