JT The best there was!!!

Finally his time is over our greatest CB ever and probably the best the PL has seen. Just gave soo much as a leader and his reading of the game was second to non.

He made the players around him better. So strong in the air and had an eye for goal too. He could of walked into any team in his day and made them much better. JT much respect.

JT > Carvalho > Vidic > Ferdinand

Carvalho and Vidic at their best were better than JT + Rio, but JT + Rio for longetivity
--------------------------

Carvalho was another great CB. I think that him and Terry benefited massively from having such a solid midfield ahead of them. Makelele was a great shield for the defence and Essien was an absolute beast - as comfortable defending as he was driving forwards. Still a great CB pairing though.

To say that Terry, Carvalho and Vidic were all better than Rio is laughable though.

Terry was a great defender before Makalelee arrived, he got into the team when we had two world cup winners at the center of defence, he retained that position despite competition from Gallas and Ricky. Terry earned his place and sure he had some great players around him that would help, football is a team sport, but also a hell of a lot of competition to overcome as well.

I was talking specifically about the Carvalho/Terry partnership.

Does anybody find it kind of fitting that JT was the last surviving member of that fantastic spine and first PL winning team?!

Indeed, but you seemed to be addressing a point that no-one had raised. Carry on.

But you raised Makalelee, and this is about JTs career. A valid response. Unless you want to simply ignore the fact.

I mentioned Makelele is response to the point about Carvalho and Terry being a great pairing. I didn't suggest that Terry wasn't a great defender before Makelele joined the club, so no idea why you came back with what you did.
