Unlike some on here, I think Mourinho has massively underachieved this season and winning the Europa will paper over a poor season.

He needs to do much better next season and learn to use the squad better and rotate as well as blood youngsters when he can.

His isolation of Bastian made no sense. Hardly used TFM. Going defensive after going a goal up. Overuse of Zlatan and Pogba. Failure to take either off when they have been poor is another.

We should have done much better...

I hope we do win the Europa.

China if you don't win the EL how will you view the season?

Maybe I'm a bit more pragmatic than some people here. Our league form has indeed been poor however, I try to take a more gradual approach to how our managers build a team.

Both LVG and Jose both had 3 year contracts so I'll outlay what I think is reasonable for those three seasons.

Season 1 : Build the foundations Preferably with Champions League football. We have one of the meanest defences in the league, and early on we saw some of the best approach play we have for a long time at Old Trafford. We also have a great chance of making the CL on Wednesday

Season 2 : Challenge for the title, have a good run in Europe if in the CL.

Season 3: Again Challenge in League and CL.

Don't think that's too unreasonable and falls in line with expectations of our club. Also takes in to consideration the cut throat business of the modern game.

He's never finished below 3rd in the pl so he has massively underacheived by his own standards never mind in comparison to our previous 2 league finishes

We are harder to score against but our attacking play needs work.

Is that another way of saying Mourinho has built a team that parks the bus?

Are we improving when all we have done is defend more by not committing players forward?

Wouldn't say we are defending more or parking the bus, we're just defending better. Last season we regularly saw 2 DMs sitting right in front of the defence passing it amongst themselves with a gapping hole between midfield and attack.

Yes our attacking play needs work but I'd argue we do commit and attack more this season, but our finishing has become far worse.

Jose usually builds sides off the back of a strong defence whereas LVG usually builds side off of a possession based game that sites deep where possession is easier to control.

So back to the article, pretty good season eh?

Depends on what was expected. The amount of pundits that predicted either you'd win tye league or finish top 4 suggests 6th in the league is below par.

I couldn't give a flying fck what pundits say, but two trophies and CL group stage qualification is a pretty decent season, by any clubs standard
